{"id":778992,"date":"2020-01-09T02:40:28","date_gmt":"2020-01-09T02:40:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2020\/01\/09\/heads-of-state-enterprises-to-continue-tenure-based-on-performance\/"},"modified":"2020-01-09T02:40:28","modified_gmt":"2020-01-09T02:40:28","slug":"heads-of-state-enterprises-to-continue-tenure-based-on-performance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2019\/01\/09\/heads-of-state-enterprises-to-continue-tenure-based-on-performance\/","title":{"rendered":"Heads of State Enterprises to continue tenure based on performance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"floatLeft\">General News of Thursday,  9 January 2020<\/p>\n<p class=\"floatRight\"><strong>Source: <\/strong>adomonline.com<\/p>\n<p>2020-01-09<\/p>\n<div class=\"article-left\">\n<p class=\"article-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/89122196.295.jpg\" alt=\"Vice President, Dr Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia\" title=\"Vice President, Dr Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia\" width=\"295\" height=\"197\" \/><span class=\"image_caption\"><span>Vice President, Dr Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"clear:right\" id=\"article-123\"> Vice President, Dr Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia has declared that Chief Executive Officers (CEO) and Board of Directors of State Enterprises will continue to be a post based on their performances.<\/p>\n<p>He revealed the government\u2019s decision to sign a performance contract to ensure renewal of mandates of CEOs and Board of Directors based on performances, is born out of the fact that most entities lack transparency and efficiency.<\/p>\n<p>The Vice President, speaking at the contract signing for specific State entities, revealed there was little or no accountability from some enterprises making their operations ineffective.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe activities of a lot of State Enterprises were opaque as far as government is concerned; there was no visibility of what was expected year in and year out of each of the State enterprises,\u201d he elaborated.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, aside the challenges of the sector, \u201cinefficient operations of these State Enterprises can drag down the economy which leads to loss of jobs and high cost of living.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, he added that some of such enterprises only present bills and huge debts for the government to pay, hence the correction of such deficiency in the sector.<\/p>\n<p>According to Dr Bawumia, the decision is in \u201cfulfilment of the statutory provision under the  regulation 196 of the public financial management act LI 2378 which is in line with government\u2019s economic policy objectives to build business-friendly economy, create jobs and improve the standard of living of Ghanaians.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>General News of Thursday, 9 January 2020 Source: adomonline.com 2020-01-09 Vice President, Dr Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia Vice President, Dr Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia has declared that Chief Executive Officers (CEO) and Board of Directors of State Enterprises will continue to be a post based on their performances.
