{"id":778989,"date":"2020-01-09T02:29:29","date_gmt":"2020-01-09T02:29:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2020\/01\/09\/arrested-menzgold-customers-still-in-police-custody\/"},"modified":"2020-01-09T02:29:29","modified_gmt":"2020-01-09T02:29:29","slug":"arrested-menzgold-customers-still-in-police-custody","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2019\/01\/09\/arrested-menzgold-customers-still-in-police-custody\/","title":{"rendered":"Arrested Menzgold customers still in police custody"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"floatLeft\">General News of Thursday,  9 January 2020<\/p>\n<p class=\"floatRight\"><strong>Source: <\/strong>adomonline.com<\/p>\n<p>2020-01-09<\/p>\n<div class=\"article-left\">\n<p class=\"article-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/96028832.295.jpg\" alt=\"The customers were at Nana Appiah Mensah's residence\" title=\"The customers were at Nana Appiah Mensah's residence\" width=\"295\" height=\"162\" \/><span class=\"image_caption\"><span>The customers were at Nana Appiah Mensah&#8217;s residence<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"clear:right\" id=\"article-123\"> Over 100 Menzgold customers of defunct gold dealership firm, Menzgold, arrested for illegally picketing at the home of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Nana Appiah Mensah to demand the release of their investments, are still in police custody.<\/p>\n<p>The group members, according to reports, have been granted bail but have been unable to fulfill their bail condition of getting one person as a guarantor.<\/p>\n<p>Scores of the aggrieved customers, bused from Tarkwa and Kumasi in the Western and Ashanti regions, respectively, joined those in Accra on Wednesday, January 8, 2020, to embark on the protest they had hoped will result in some fruitful response.<\/p>\n<p>They had vowed to sleep at the CEO\u2019s residence until their monies are paid but officers from the police operations team stormed the place and rounded them up for breaching the Public Order Act.<\/p>\n<p>However, hours after detention at the police headquarters, the customers have been granted bail but most of them have not been able to go home.<\/p>\n<p>One of the conveners of the aggrieved Menzgold customers, Francis Owusu revealed this on Adom News.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that because most of them came from outside Accra, they are finding it difficult to get relatives to bail them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have not eaten since morning because of this issue.
