Matthew Opoku Prempeh \u2013 Minister of Education<\/strong><\/p>\n

The proprietor and owner of Charles Wesley Academy, a private
\nbasic school at Oyoko in the New Juaben North Municipality of the Eastern Region,
\nDr. Charles Annor Frempong, has called on the government to support private
\nschools\u00a0since they contribute significantly to education in the country.<\/p>\n

Dr. Frempong said private\u00a0school owners are key stakeholders
\nin the provision of quality education in the country, especially at the basic
\nlevel, for which reason the government must seriously consider offering them
\nsupport by way of procuring buses to these schools at subsidised prices.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think the government can also support private schools like the
\nway it has been supporting members of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union
\n(GPRTU) by procuring buses for them at subsidised prices,\u201d he said, stressing
\nthat it was imperative for the government to offer some sort of support to such
\nprivate schools who are helping to invest in the human capital of the nation.<\/p>\n

The proprietor made the call when his school marked 2019 Nine
\nLessons of Christmas and Carols Night at Oyoko, using the cultural setting as
\nan attraction.<\/p>\n

He said his reason for establishing the school is to help invest
\nin the human capital of the country in rural Ghana, where children don\u2019t
\nnormally get quality education.<\/p>\n

He said his school has modern facilities like any big school in
\nthe urban areas, focusing more on ICT, moral education and helping to unearth
\ntalents of pupils and assisting them to\u00a0nurture such talents to the
\nfullest.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have recruited very good teachers who are helping me achieve
\nthe goal of giving all-round education to children in this town and its
\nenvirons,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n

The special guest of honour who is the Executive Director of the Ghana
\nNational Council of Private Schools, Mr. Enoch Kwasi Gyetuah, highly commended
\nthe proprietor of the school who is a former employee of the World Bank for
\nestablishing such a modern school in a rural setting, thereby providing
\nholistic education to the children in the area.<\/p>\n

He said provision of education is a shared responsibility and,
\ntherefore, urged parents to be very much interested in the education of their
\nchildren by always ensuring that they learn at home.<\/p>\n
