Accra, Jan. 08, GNA
\n– The Kaneshie District Court on Wednesday adjourned the alleged treason case
\ninvolving some military officers, a medical doctor, a senior Police Officer,
\namong others to January 23.<\/span><\/p>\n

This followed a
\nrequest by the Prosecution to extend the remand warrant for the accused.<\/span><\/p>\n

Assistant
\nSuperintendent of Police, (ASP) Sylvester Asare told the Court presided over by
\nMrs Eleanor Kakra Barnes-Botchway that the docket had been sent to the Office
\nof the Attorney General (AG) for study and advice.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mr Victor Kwadjoga
\nAdawudu, lawyer for seven out of the ten accused persons said the prosecution
\nby saying it had sent the docket to the AG for advice for trial to commence
\npresupposed that it had completed investigations over the charges levelled
\nagainst the accused persons.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Accused Persons
\nare: Dr Frederick Yao Mac-Palm, the Chief Executive of the Citadel Hospital;
\nDornya Kafui, alias \u201cEzor,\u201d a blacksmith; Bright Allan Debrah Ofosu, a Freight
\nManager; and Gershun Akpa, a civilian employee of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).<\/span><\/p>\n

Others are Colonel
\nSamuel Kojo Gameli, a serving military officer Corporal Seidu Abubakar and
\nLance Corporal Sylvester Akanbiri.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lance Corporal Ali
\nSolomon, Warrant Officer II (WO2) Esther Saan and Assistant Commissioner of
\nPolice (ACP) Benjamin Agordzo are their accomplices.<\/span><\/p>\n

They are facing
\ncharges, among which are conspiracy to commit crime, possessing of arms and
\nexplosives without lawful authority and treason.<\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile counsel
\nfor seven of the accused Mr Adawudu, on January 6 filed a motion for an order
\nof disclosure of evidence on the Prosecution.<\/span><\/p>\n

ASP Asare in
\nresponse told the Court that he received the application for the order on the
\nmorning of January 8, through the court\u2019s clerk who indicated to him that he in
\nturn got it on January 6, at 1600 hours.<\/span><\/p>\n

He therefore prayed
\nthe Court to give the prosecution ample time to respond.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mr Adawudu however
\ntold the Court that in criminal matters, there was nothing like short service
\nbut was quick to add that if prosecution intended to file an affidavit in
\nopposition, it must do so in time.<\/span><\/p>\n

ASP Asare had
\nearlier told the court that Dr Mac-Palm was a medical practitioner, Kafui, a
\nblacksmith, Debra, a freight manager and the rest were officers of the Ghana
\nArmed Forces (GAF).<\/span><\/p>\n

He said they were
\nall members of the Take Action Ghana,a Non-Governmental Organisation,
\nincorporated by Mac-Palm in 2018.<\/span><\/p>\n

Prosecution said the
\ngroup planned to demonstrate against the government as well as overtake it, so
\nMac-Palm contacted Kafui, a resident of Alavanyo to manufacture arms for that
\npurpose, which he did.<\/span><\/p>\n

He said later the
\nother accused persons were also contacted including; Akpa, a weapon mechanic
\nwith GAF, who agreed and supplied two AK47 for GH\u00a22,000.00 but could not give
\nmore and returned the money after pressure mounted by Mac-Palm.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Prosecution said
\nthey also held meetings to facilitate the process and drew a map covering the
\nFlagstaff House, Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, 37 Military Hospital area and
\nBurma Camp to facilitate their movements.<\/span><\/p>\n

Colonel Gameli, ASP
\nAsare said, promised to give his support before, during and after the planned
\nevent.<\/span><\/p>\n

He said Kafui
\nbrought the 22 explosives, six pistols, three grenades and five ammunitions and
\nMac-Palm accommodated him, adding that all this took place from June 2018 to
\nSeptember 2019.<\/span><\/p>\n

The prosecution said
\nMac-Palm also provided a quantity of substance which when inhaled, would sedate
\none for about an hour.<\/span><\/p>\n

He said ACP Agordzo
\nwas also contacted whilst on peacekeeping mission abroad and he supported in
\nvarious ways such as offering advice and donated money.<\/span><\/p>\n

The prosecution said
\nPolice upon a tip-off, arrested Mac-Palm on September 19, 2019 and the rest
\nsubsequently.<\/span><\/p>\n
