Dr Hafiz Bin Salih, the<br \/>\nUpper West Regional Minister, has said that Metropolitan, Municipal and<br \/>\nDistrict Assemblies (MMDAs) will give incentives to medical doctors who accept<br \/>\npostings to hospitals in the region.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">Dr Salih announced this on Wednesday during<br \/>\na meeting with Dr Patrick Kuma Aboagye, the Acting Director General of the<br \/>\nGhana Health Service, in Wa.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">The meeting was for the Minister to submit a<br \/>\nreport on the circumstances that led to the death of a two-year old boy at the<br \/>\nWa regional hospital.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">He appealed to the Acting Director General<br \/>\nto help maintain the old hospital, which will now be used as the Wa Municipal<br \/>\nHospital to provide quality and better health services to the people.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">Dr Salih said the people of the Upper West<br \/>\nRegion were peace loving and do not discriminate against others based on<br \/>\ntribal, political or religious lines and due to that the recommendations in the<br \/>\nreport will be implemented after the director general and the Health Minister<br \/>\nadded their inputs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">He pledged that the new regional hospital<br \/>\nwould be put to good use to the benefit of the people of the region and beyond.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">\u201cOn behalf of the RCC and the people of this<br \/>\nregion I want to promise you that if the new hospital is opened for operation<br \/>\nit will be maintained for us to realize the full benefits of it\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">\u201cEven because of that I have met with the<br \/>\nvarious MMDAs and MMDCEs to see how we can design an incentive package for<br \/>\nmedical doctors who accept postings to hospitals in the Upper West Region\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">Dr Aboagye said the New Upper West Regional<br \/>\nHospital that was commissioned in August 2019 is to be opened to the public for<br \/>\nclinical services on January 9, 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">He said plans are far advanced to convert<br \/>\nthe old regional hospital to a psychiatric institution to serve the purposes of<br \/>\nboth a municipal hospital and a psychiatric hospital.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">?On Saturday, November 9, 2019, a<br \/>\ntwo-year-old boy from Boli in the Upper West Region sustained a snake bite and<br \/>\nwas rushed to the emergency unit of the Upper West Regional Hospital.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">The victim was allegedly denied medical<br \/>\ntreatment due to the closure of the folder room at the time he got to the<br \/>\nfacility and led to his untimely death, which necessitated the setting up of a<br \/>\ncommittee to investigate the incident.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">GNA<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Dominic Andonye, GNA Wa Jan. 8, GNA &#8211;
