{"id":778713,"date":"2020-01-08T18:17:23","date_gmt":"2020-01-08T18:17:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2020\/01\/08\/standard-chartered-staff-spend-time-at-autism-centre\/"},"modified":"2020-01-08T18:17:23","modified_gmt":"2020-01-08T18:17:23","slug":"standard-chartered-staff-spend-time-at-autism-centre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2019\/01\/08\/standard-chartered-staff-spend-time-at-autism-centre\/","title":{"rendered":"Standard Chartered staff spend time at autism centre"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div itemprop=\"articleBody\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt;\">Accra, Jan. 8, GNA &#8211; Standard Chartered as<br \/>\npart of its activities and in fulfilment of the Bank\u2019s global initiative<br \/>\n\u201cFuturemakers\u201d, has organized an outreach to the Autism Awareness Care and<br \/>\nTraining Centre at Kokomlemle, Accra.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">Led by the Chief Executive Officer, Mrs<br \/>\nMansa Nettey, the staff voluntarily assisted caretakers and students at the<br \/>\nCentre in various educational and recreational activities, which included painting,<br \/>\nreading, bead making and paper art.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">The Autism Awareness Care and Training<br \/>\nCentre was established 21 years ago with six children and currently has about<br \/>\n30 students.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">It aims to train and support children with<br \/>\nautism, by providing them with independent living skills through training to<br \/>\nfacilitate their re-inclusion into mainstream society whiles creating awareness<br \/>\nabout the disorder which has no known cause or cure.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">Mrs Serwaa Quaynor, Founder and Director of<br \/>\nthe Centre, praised Standard Chartered for their visit and called for more<br \/>\nsupport for people living with autism in the country.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">She used the visit to call on more corporate<br \/>\nbodies to emulate the example of Standard Chartered.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">\u201cFuturemakers\u201d by Standard Chartered is the<br \/>\nBank\u2019s new global initiative aimed at tackling inequality and seeks to promote<br \/>\ngreater economic inclusion for young people in the communities in which the<br \/>\nBank operates. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">The initiative aims to raise funds between<br \/>\n2019 and 2023 to empower the next generation to learn, earn and grow and is<br \/>\nbuilt on the three pillars of Education, Entrepreneurship and Employability.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">Standard Chartered has an employee<br \/>\nvolunteering programme where each employee has three days paid leave to support<br \/>\nsocial causes in selected communities by contributing with their skills set and<br \/>\nexpertise.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">Under Employee Volunteering, the unique<br \/>\nskills of the Bank and employees are used to share skills and build the<br \/>\ncapacity of young people to access jobs and economic opportunities that will<br \/>\nhelp close the inequality gap. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">Standard Chartered has a long history of<br \/>\ncontributing to social and economic development and supporting communities in<br \/>\nthe countries where it operates.
