Pe Ditungdine<br \/>\nAdiali Ayagitam III, Paramount Chief of the Chiana Traditional Area, has called<br \/>\non stakeholders to promote the advancement of young people in the country as<br \/>\nthey are the force for national development.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">He said the nation would succeed if it paid<br \/>\ngreat attention to its young people and involved them in sustainable<br \/>\ndevelopment activities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">Pe Adiali-Ayagitam made the call on behalf<br \/>\nof the chiefs and people of the Kassena-Nankana Traditional Area at the<br \/>\ncelebration of the Nemoro-Fao festival at Manyaro in the Kasseana-Nankana<br \/>\nMunicipality of the Upper East Region.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">The festival is celebrated annually to thank<br \/>\nthe ancestral spirits for peace, unity and a good harvest at the end of the<br \/>\nfarming season. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">\u201cThe implementation of good sustainable<br \/>\ndevelopment policies would make good economic growth and enhance the living<br \/>\nstandards of the people in the communities and the entire region\u201d, he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">Pe Adiali-Ayagitam said government has<br \/>\ncharted a path for development aimed at making the livelihood conditions of the<br \/>\npeople better and was fast transforming the local economy through the<br \/>\nintroduction of its flagship programmes among others.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">\u201cThese social intervention policies<br \/>\nincluding the \u2018Planting for Food and Jobs\u2019, \u2018Rearing for Food and Jobs\u2019 and the<br \/>\nNation Builders Corps among others are laudable policies worth patronizing to<br \/>\nimprove the economic conditions and maintain a robust job creation<br \/>\nenvironment\u201d, he said. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">Pe Adiali-Ayagitam said it was not good that<br \/>\nlarge numbers of the youth were migrating from the north to the southern part<br \/>\nof the country in search of non-existent jobs and called on government to focus<br \/>\non sustaining the social intervention policies.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice<br \/>\nPresident, in a speech, read on his behalf by Madam Tangoba Abayage, the Upper<br \/>\nEast Regional Minister, said young people remain a key segment of the<br \/>\npopulation and government would continue to ensure sustainable development<br \/>\noriented programmes were developed to promote their growth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">He said more policies by government were<br \/>\nbeing programmed to enforce the involvement of the youth in the decision-making<br \/>\nprocess so as to give them the opportunity to contribute meaningfully towards<br \/>\ntheir own development.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">He said comprehensive Vocational and<br \/>\nTechnical Education Training (TVET) programmes have been established to build and<br \/>\nequip state-of \u2013 the-art technical training centres that would offer training<br \/>\nin various trades.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">The Nemoro Festival brought together chiefs,<br \/>\nsons and daughters of the area to tell the story of the rich culture in the<br \/>\narea through traditional drumming and dancing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">GNA<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Jerry Azanduna, GNA Manyaro (U\/E), Jan. 8, GNA &#8211;
