The project is dubbed: &#8220;Paediatric Fracture<br \/>\nSolutions of Ghana Project&#8221;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">The project seeks to reduce and prevent disability,<br \/>\nmorbidity and mortality from paediatrics trauma related cases through<br \/>\neducation, and improving clinical care provided by doctors, nurses, allied<br \/>\nhealthcare workers, first interveners and primary care givers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">Dr Konadu-Yeboah stressed the need for journalists<br \/>\nto help intensify education at preventing road traffic accidents to minimise it<br \/>\nimpact on Ghana and help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) three<br \/>\nand six.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">The goals focus on reducing road traffic<br \/>\ninjuries and deaths by 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">He said Ghana\u2019s health care systems must be<br \/>\nre-organised to place trauma care high on the health agenda in order to hit the<br \/>\nSDG targets.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">Dr Francis Odei-Ansong, the Trauma and<br \/>\nOrthopaedic Surgeon at the Tema General Hospital, said to enhance appropriate<br \/>\ntrauma care, the AO alliance has established residency training centres at Cape<br \/>\nCoast and Tamale Teaching Hospitals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">They are equipped among other things with<br \/>\nlogistics to establish independent departments. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">He said 240 children have so far benefitted<br \/>\nfrom the project in both KATH and the Cape Coast Hospitals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">Journalists were encouraged to use their<br \/>\nmedia platforms to advocate and create public awareness of trauma cases in the<br \/>\ncountry to minimize its occurrence.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;;mso-fareast-font-family:&#10;Calibri;mso-ansi-language:EN-GB;mso-fareast-language:EN-US;mso-bidi-language:&#10;AR-SA\">GNA<\/span><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Comfort Sena Fetrie, GNA Tamale, Jan 08, GNA &#8211; Dr Dominic Konadu-Yeboah, the Head of Trauma and Orthopaedics at the Komfo Anorkye Teaching Hospital (KATH), has disclosed that an estimated five million people die annually out of injuries from road accidents globally.
