Dr<br \/>\nArchibald Yao Letsa, Volta Regional Minister has pledged his support and that<br \/>\nof the Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC) to the completion of the second<br \/>\nphase of the Ghana Journalists Association Volta Press Centre project in Ho.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\" style=\"font-size:11.0pt;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">He said the VRCC and<br \/>\nits Municipal and District Assemblies would fashion out a mechanism to support<br \/>\nthe project to completion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\" style=\"font-size:11.0pt;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">Dr. Letsa made the<br \/>\npledge at a press soiree by the Regional Coordinating Council in Ho.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\" style=\"font-size:11.0pt;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">He described the<br \/>\nrelationship between the VRCC and journalists as excellent, translating into<br \/>\nmultiple achievements by the Council and stated its resolve to promote the<br \/>\nwelfare of journalists and ensure their safety.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\" style=\"font-size:11.0pt;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">The Regional<br \/>\nMinister called on media owners, journalists, media practitioners and<br \/>\nespecially radio morning show hosts to avoid empaneling one-sided guests for<br \/>\npolitical programmes, because that was detrimental to social-cohesion,<br \/>\nintegration and a recipe for political violence.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\" style=\"font-size:11.0pt;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">He said the<br \/>\nsingle-sided empaneling skews representation to a course that was<br \/>\ndiscriminatory, uneven, unprofessional and unethical, especially in an election<br \/>\nyear.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\" style=\"font-size:11.0pt;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">&#8220;Fairness of<br \/>\nrepresentation was equal to the quality of the morning show itself,\u201d Dr. Letsa<br \/>\nstated.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\" style=\"font-size:11.0pt;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">He observed that<br \/>\nTongu Radio was gaining notoriety in using its platform to champion<br \/>\nsecessionists\u2019 agenda, which impugned on national security urging them to stop<br \/>\nor face the rigours of state power.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\" style=\"font-size:11.0pt;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">The Regional<br \/>\nMinister said to further strengthen media relations, regular media encounters<br \/>\nwould be organised to keep the media updated on government\u2019s programmes and<br \/>\nachievements.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\" style=\"font-size:11.0pt;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">Mr Kenwuud Nuworsu,<br \/>\nformer Volta Regional Chairman, New Patriotic Party, said there was nothing<br \/>\nwrong for journalists to belong to political parties provided they remained<br \/>\nprofessional and ethical on the job.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\" style=\"font-size:11.0pt;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">\u201cHow you balance<br \/>\nyour craft demonstrates your professionalism,\u201d he said, urging them to be<br \/>\n&#8220;bold&#8221;
