OWNERS OF
\nfive cold stores at Asafo in Kumasi are in hot waters as they face possible
\nlegal action soon.<\/p>\n

The issue came up\u00a0after they
\nwere caught for allegedly stealing power from the Electricity Company of Ghana
\n(ECG).<\/p>\n

A joint ECG Strategic Business Unit
\nofficials and police team operation led to the discovery of the power theft.<\/p>\n

The major operation was carried out
\non Friday night to Saturday dawn, DAILY
\nGUIDE<\/em> has been informed.<\/p>\n

According to reports, the five cold
\nstores had tampered with their meters in order for them to steal ECG\u2019s power.<\/p>\n

The joint team quickly locked up the
\nfive cold stores with huge padlocks and summoned the owners for a meeting.<\/p>\n

Besides, two hotels and three
\nentertainment centres in the city that had also tampered with their meters were
\nexposed.<\/p>\n

The ECG officials have also ordered
\nthe owners of the affected hotels and entertainment centres to meet them.<\/p>\n

Power theft continues to be one of
\nthe main challenges of ECG, as the canker denies it of expected revenue.<\/p>\n

Erasmus Kyere Baidoo, the Communications
\nDirector of ECG, Ashanti Region, has confirmed the latest power theft.<\/p>\n

In a message on social media, he
\nexpressed his joy over the discovery of power theft by five cold stores at
\nAsafo.<\/p>\n

\u201cFive big cold stores at Asafo
\nMarket have been locked up for engaging in illegal connection,\u201d the ECG
\nofficial said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe owners have been summoned to
\nreport at Adum office of ECG Revenue Protection Unit without fail,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Mr. Baidoo confirmed that the theft was discovered by police and ECG joint team through a night-to-dawn swoop.<\/p>\n
