COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah<\/strong><\/p>\n

In his first major shake-up of
\nthe top hierarchy since assuming the leadership of the Ghana Police Service
\n(GPS), IGP James Oppong-Buanuh has replaced COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo Danquah as
\nDirector General (DG) of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) with COP
\nIsaac Ken Yeboah. He has moved the recently promoted DCOP David Eklu from the
\nPublic Affairs Directorate to the Police Hospital as Administrator. <\/p>\n

Until his movement to the CID,
\nCOP Ken Yeboah was DG, Administration.<\/p>\n

COP Tiwaa\u2019s transfer to the
\nequally critical department of the law enforcement agency, Welfare, is an
\naction which her critics, in the wake of the mess surrounding the press
\nconference she hosted on the missing Takoradi girls, had demanded. <\/p>\n

While some would speculate that
\nher movement is as a result of that issue, others think otherwise saying that
\nshe is a capable superior officer who would make her mark in her new portfolio.\n<\/p>\n

COP\/Dr. George Akuffo Dampare
\nleaves his position as DG, Welfare, to take on the portfolio of Administration.<\/p>\n

COP Christian Tetteh Yohunu
\nvacates his Director Generalship of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department
\nto take over management of Special Duties; his position now goes to COP
\nBeatrice Zakpa Vib-Sanziri who was in charge of the PPSB.<\/p>\n

COP Alex Amponsah-Asiamah, DG,
\nServices, has moved to head the ICT Directorate as COP Alphonse Adu Amankwah,
\nEastern Regional Commander, heads for the headship of the PSO.<\/p>\n

COP George Alex Mensah, DG
\nOperations, is now in charge of Services, and COP Francis Ebenezer Duku leaves
\nhis current DG Special Services for Service Workshops.<\/p>\n

DCOP Redeemer Vincent Dedjoe,
\nRegional Commander Western Region, is now head of PPSB, Headquarters, as DCOP
\nElizabeth Appolonia Dassah leaves her current desk at the Police Headquarters
\nto head the Female Police Secretariat at the Police Headquarters.<\/p>\n

DCOP Kwaku Boadu-Peprah, the
\nAshanti Regional Commander, is now DG, Operations. <\/p>\n

In a related development, the
\nIGP has moved DCOP Paul Kwame Ayittey from his position as the 2i\/c Upper East
\nRegion to Regional Commander, Oti Region.<\/p>\n

DCOP Albert Nang-Baa Denkaabe,
\nRegional Commander North East Region, is now the Armourer General at the Police
\nHeadquarters as DCOP Assibey Ahenkan, Oti Region, takes over Logistics at the
\nPolice Headquarters.<\/p>\n

DCOP Moses Asabagna Atibillah
\nMIU\/R&P becomes 2i\/c Northern Region as DCOP Felix Fosu-Agyemang 2i\/c goes
\nto the Western Region as Regional Commander.<\/p>\n

DCOP Ernest Owusu, 2i\/c TR,
\ngoes to Ashanti Region as Commander and DCOP Afful Boakye-Yiadom, 2i\/c Eastern
\nRegion, becoming the Regional Commander of Eastern Region.<\/p>\n

DCOP Anderson Fosu-Ackah,
\nCentral MTTD, Accra, is now 2i\/c Tema Region and DCOP Charles Domanban, 2i\/c
\nNorth East, taking over as the regional commander.<\/p>\n

DCOP Victor Adusah-Poku,
\nAdministrator Police Hospital, now becomes 2i\/c Western Region, as ACP Andrews
\nBoadu-Ekumah, Nkawkaw Division, now becomes 2i\/c in the Ashanti Region. <\/p>\n

Administrative
\nStructure <\/strong><\/p>\n

The administrative structure at
\nthe Police Headquarters as per Service Instruction No 5 bestows the headship of
\nthe law enforcement agency in the IGP who shall be subject to the control and
\ndirection of the Police Council. The IGP shall be in charge of exercising
\ngeneral day-to-day supervision of the operation administration of the Police Service.\n<\/p>\n

He shall be assisted by a
\nDeputy IGP in the absence of which the Directors General of the various
\nschedules.<\/p>\n

The Deputy IGP shall assist the
\nIGP, act in his absence and report directly to the IGP.<\/p>\n

The Director General,
\nAdministration, shall report to the IGP on the day-to-day administration of the
\nservice, including notification of the appropriate body on promotions when due,
\nensuring the implementation of policies and directives of the IGP.<\/p>\n

The DG, Administration, shall
\nalso co-ordinate activities of all regional commanders, provide effective link
\nbetween the IGP and the regional commanders. <\/p>\n

He or she shall also ensure the
\nexistence of a good secretariat where records, files and documents are worked
\non with minimum delay and liaise with other schedule officers for effective co-ordination,
\namong other functions.<\/p>\n

The DG, Welfare, handles all
\nmatters about transfers of personnel in the non-commissioned and inspectorate
\nbrackets and general welfare in the service. <\/p>\n

The CID is one of the critical departments of all law enforcement operations worldwide. The DG at the CID is responsible for all matters regarding investigations. <\/p>\n
