Prof Ransford Edward Gyampo<\/strong><\/p>\n

Two lecturers of the University of Ghana cited in the BBC Africa Eye \u2018Sex for grades\u2019 documentary have been exonerated\u00a0by the university\u2019s fact-finding committee.<\/p>\n

According to the university, Prof. Ransford Gyampoh and Dr Paul Kwame Butakor\u00a0were not culpable of engaging in any act of exchanging sex for grades as claimed by the documentary released last.<\/p>\n

However, the committee found the guilty for misconducting themselves thereby bringing the name of the institution into disrepute and embarrassment.<\/p>\n

Based on that the committee has recommended that the two lecturers are made to face the\u00a0university\u2019s disciplinary committee for appropriate action to be taken against them.<\/p>\n

BBC Africa Eye revealed that the two lecturers\u00a0were the main focus of the documentary.<\/p>\n

The BBC said it\u00a0had numerous received reports that the two lecturers were allegedly harassing students on campus. <\/p>\n

They explained that the team only resorted to using secret filming of the targets after substantive evidence was gathered. <\/p>\n

In a quick reaction,\u00a0Margaret Amoakohene, the Chairperson of the Anti-Sexual Harassment Committee of the university told Joy News that\u00a0\u201cit was inappropriate for you [the lecturers] to be seeking all the things that we saw in the video. <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd we also have a code of ethics of senior members of the university; that is also breached.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, in the committee\u2019s\u00a0report, it found\u00a0no evidence that Dr Butakor and Prof. Gyampoh breached the university\u2019s policy on sexual harassment.<\/p>\n

The report presented by the committee in November last year said, \u201cOn the totality of the evidence before it, there is a huge variance between the import of the title: \u2018Sex for grades\u2019, and the content of the actual secret video recording of the affected lecturers of the University of Ghana.\u201d<\/p>\n
