{"id":777179,"date":"2020-01-06T08:16:34","date_gmt":"2020-01-06T08:16:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2020\/01\/06\/atiku-pdp-represent-nigerias-wasted-past-apc\/"},"modified":"2020-01-06T08:16:34","modified_gmt":"2020-01-06T08:16:34","slug":"atiku-pdp-represent-nigerias-wasted-past-apc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2019\/01\/06\/atiku-pdp-represent-nigerias-wasted-past-apc\/","title":{"rendered":"Atiku, PDP Represent Nigeria&#8217;s Wasted Past: APC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div id=\"\">\n<figure id=\"attachment_665933\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-665933\" style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-665933\" src=\"https:\/\/ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/23927-1.jpg\" alt=\"APC Flag\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\"  \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-665933\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">APC Flag<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The All Progressives Congress (APC) has described former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and his party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as the \u201cwasted past\u201d that Nigerians have chosen to correct.<\/p>\n<p>This was in reaction to Atiku\u2019s statement urging the PDP to focus on rebuilding itself rather than 2023 elections.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement on Sunday, Lanre Issa-Onilu, the spokesperson of the APC said Atiku was \u201canything but sincere in his advice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInstead of Atiku focusing on how to corner the 2023 presidential ticket of the PDP or any of the other political parties where he may choose to purchase his ticket, we call on Atiku, along with other PDP leaders to find the courage to return our resources and seek forgiveness from Nigerians,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Read Also:\u00a0<\/strong><strong>We Should Be Concerned With Building Our Party, Not Election, Atiku Tells PDP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cReturn of our stolen resources and sincere apologies for the havoc wrecked on the country during the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 16-year rule should be the preoccupation of PDP.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAtiku and the PDP represent the wasted past which Nigerians have chosen to discard and correct.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe era when national assets were a bazaar for cronies and friends; an era when funds were approved and released for projects that were never executed; an era of waste and impunity; an era of voodoo economy; an era when corruption was a state policy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added that, \u201cThe resolute and pro-people intervention by the President Muhammadu Buhari government has ensured the plugging of revenue leakages, oil sector reforms, anti-corruption policies, economic diversification, rapid infrastructure development, intensification of fight against violent extremism among others. \u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cParticularly in the fight against public sector corruption, the recently-launched Open Treasury Portal (OTP) complements previous initiatives such as the administration\u2019s full implementation of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) which has increased the level of accountability and transparency in the financial resources of the government; stoppage of budget padding, contrary to what we witnessed throughout the 16 years of the PDP and pruning out thousands of ghost workers through stricter implementation of Integrated Personnel Payroll System (IPPIS).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>              &#13;\n                    <\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>APC Flag The All Progressives Congress (APC) has described former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and his party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as the \u201cwasted past\u201d that Nigerians have chosen to correct.
