He was enstooled on 26 April 1999.<\/p>\n<p>Otumfuo is in direct succession to the 17th-century co-founder of the Ashanti Empire, Otumfuo Osei Tutu I.<\/p>\n<p>The Asantehene is also the Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST)\u00a0 and the Grand Patron of the Grand Lodge of Ghana and the Sword Bearer of the United Grand Lodge of England.<\/p>\n<p>His 20th-anniversary\u00a0commemoration was held on April 21, 2019, at the Dwabirem of the Manhyia Palace.<\/p>\n<p>The grand durbar of the Akwasidaekese had dignitaries like President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo,\u00a0Vice President of Suriname, Michael Ashwin Satyandre Adhin and the Awomefia of the Anlo state, Torgbui Sri\u00a0in attendance.<\/p>\n<p>Other personalities included diplomats and royals from Namibia, Kuwait, Germany, China, Morocco, Latvia, Botswana and Palestine.<\/p>\n<p>Source: Myjoyonline.com <\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bank of Ghana has approved the issuance\u00a0of 24-carat gold coins to commemorate the 20th\u00a0anniversary of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
