Former
\n President Jerry John Rawlings has thrown his weight behind the \u201cEat
\nGhana Rice\u2019 campaign, describing it as a good course for the country. <\/p>\n

He says its time Ghanaians consumed more produced\u2013in\u2013Ghana rice and stop depending on imported brands of the commodity. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m
\n throwing my support behind the campaign,\u201d the former President said
\nwhen officials of the Alliance for Green Revolution Africa (AGRA)
\nconsortium on rice paid a courtesy call on him to present to him various
\n Ghana rice brands. <\/p>\n

AGRA,
\n the Ghana Rice Inter-Professional Body (GRIB), Hopeline Institute and a
\n number of other organisations constitute the consortium which has been
\nworking for years to improve the rice value chain in Ghana. <\/p>\n

\"Rawlings<\/figure>\n

It
\n would be recalled images of unsold Ghana rice in the northern part of
\nthe country went viral on social media recently sparking a campaign for
\nincreased consumption of Ghana rice. <\/p>\n

The former president says it\u2019s about time that campaign went international. <\/p>\n

\u201cLet\u2019s
\n take advantage of the year of return to promote Ghana Rice to the
\ninternational community; the Year of Return aims to continue the mission
\n of bridging the distance between Africans and the diasporas,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n

President
\n of GRIB,\u00a0Nana Adjei Ayeh expressed gratitude to the former President
\nfor his support and assured him they will take the campaign to the
\ninternational community.<\/p>\n

Operations
\n Officer for Hopeline Institute, Ebow Graham, noted increased support
\nfor the Ghana rice sector will go a long way to help create jobs for the
