The Managing Director of the Tema Oil Refinery, Isaac Osei,\u00a0has resigned. <\/p>\n

Chairman
\n of the General Transport, Petroleum, and Chemical Workers Union
\n(GTPCWU) at TOR, John Elton Botchway confirmed this to JoyNews Friday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

According to him, Mr Osei made the surprise announcement at a staff end-of-year gathering.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cHe asked us to be resilient and not to be downhearted by his exit. According to him politicians will come and go,\u201d Mr Botchway told JoyNews editor, Fred Smith in a telephone interview.<\/p>\n

Mr Osei, who is also a former Member
\n of Parliament (MP) for Subin Constituency took over\u00a0from Mr Kwame Awuah
\n Darko as the\u00a0Managing Director (MD) of TOR in 2017 and he has\u00a0been
\ncredited with improving the\u00a0fortunes of the organisation. <\/p>\n

These
\n achievements include embarking on a needed shut down maintenance to
\nimprove upon the performance and reliability of the refinery after it
\nhad missed three cycles of scheduled shut down maintenance prior to his
\nappointment. <\/p>\n

That is not all. <\/p>\n

The former\u00a0Ghana Cocoa Board\u00a0MD is also credited with the payment for a 120tph Steam Boiler which increases steam generation capacity for plant operations and ensures the reliability of the Refinery\u2019s utility system.<\/p>\n

After
\n completing Achimota School in 1970, he went further to obtain higher
\neducation at the University of Ghana, Legon where he graduated with
\nB.Sc. (Hons) Degree in Economics. He further studied Mathematics and
\nStatistics at the Economics Institute at the University of Colorado in
\nBoulder, USA. Mr Osei, in addition, holds a master\u2019s degree in
\nDevelopment Economics, now Centre for Policy Analysis at the prestigious
\n Williams College in Massachusetts, USA.<\/p>\n

He
\n began his career at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning in
\nGhana where he worked at the Industry, Mining and Forestry Division
\nprior to moving into the Macro- Economic Section of the Ministry.<\/p>\n

Mr
\n Osei was appointed Ambassador to the United Kingdom and Ireland (2001-
\n2006). Whiles in London, he was elected to the position of Chairperson
\nat the Board of Governors of the Commonwealth Secretariat, UK.<\/p>\n

As
\n Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Cocoa Board (Cocobod) in 2006, Mr Osei
\n led the Board to make investments in yield-enhancing schemes, cocoa
\ndisease and pests control as well as trade logistics infrastructure
\nwhich saw Cocobod attaining an astounding production target of one
\nmillion tonnes of cocoa within three years. He served as Vice-Chair of
\nthe Executive Committee of the International Cocoa Organization and was a
\n member of the Consultative Board on the World Cocoa Economy.<\/p>\n

He
\n served as Chairman of Cocoa Marketing Company (UK) Ltd and was a member
\n of the Board of Aluworks Ghana Ltd, Cocoa Processing Company Ltd and
\nWAMCO.<\/p>\n

He
\n founded Ghanexim Economic Consultants Ltd and consulted for the World
\nBank, USAID and the Ghana Government on several projects in Ghana. Mr
\nOsei was also the Managing Director for E.K Osei & Engineers &
\nContractors Company, as well as Intravenous Infusions Ltd, the largest
\nmanufacturer of intravenous infusions and small volume injectable in
\nWest Africa.<\/p>\n

Currently, Mr Osei serves as the Chairman of Algebra Securities Ltd, Algebra Capital Ltd, and Intravenous Infusions Ltd.<\/p>\n

Mr.
\n Osei represented the Subin Constituency in the Ashanti Region of Ghana
\nas its Member of Parliament from 2009-2017. He was the ranking member of
\n the Trade, Industry and Tourism Committee from 2009-2013, ranking
\nmember of the Committee on Foreign Affairs between 2013-2017. <\/p>\n

He
\n served as a member of the Parliament\u2019s House and the Poverty Reduction
\nCommittee and Ad-hoc Committees which prepared the Code of Conduct for
