THE KOTOKA
\nInternational Airport (KIA) Regional Command of the Ghana Immigration Service
\n(GIS) has held a day\u2019s open day activity for the public.<\/p>\n

The
\nprogramme sought to bring the service closer to the public and to educate
\nforeigners on the immigration laws of Ghana. The public were also engaged on
\nthe issues about international travel. <\/p>\n

In
\nattendance were high ranking officers of the GIS as well as some members of the
\nDiplomatic Corps including Rafael Rodriguez-Ponga, Deputy Spanish Ambassador and
\nChen Mingin and Dirk Katlun, representatives from the Chinese and German
\nEmbassies respectively.<\/p>\n

Held under
\nthe theme, \u201cKnow What To Do While In
\nGhana,\u201d<\/em> the ceremony was also in commemoration of this year\u2019s International
\nMigrants Day.<\/p>\n

The Deputy
\nComptroller-General of Immigration, Judith Dzokoto Lomoh, in an address,
\niterated that it was \u201csignificant\u201d for the service to make itself known to its
\ntarget audience hence the open-day initiative; assuring that the service will
\ncontinue to manage migration matters.<\/p>\n

Regional
\nCommander for KIA, Edith Penelope Arhin, explained that the theme was in
\nrecognition of the fact that foreigners, especially first time travelers, knew
\nlittle or had no idea about immigration laws governing their stay in the
\ncountry.<\/p>\n

Invited
\nguests were educated on the identification of the service\u2019s uniforms<\/p>\n

Roll-up
\nbanners with photos of both senior and junior officers in the service\u2019s
\nuniforms, with captions in English, French, Spanish and Chinese languages, were
\nunveiled for easy identification of GIS officers.<\/p>\n

Suggestion
\nboxes were also mounted at vantage points across the airport to receive
\nobservations, complaints, questions and other forms of feedback. <\/p>\n

Flyers with
\nanswers to some frequently asked questions were also distributed.<\/p>\n
