YARA
\nGHANA, a leading name in fertilizers in Ghana, won the agro input of the
\nyear-fertilizer at the maiden Ghana Cocoa Awards held in Accra recently. <\/p>\n

The
\ncompany\u2019s input package for cocoa which is the Asaase Wura and YaraLiva
\nNitrabor were shortlisted among other cocoa fertilizer inputs for the category
\nand came out top at the event.<\/p>\n

The
\naward was received by the Managing Director of Yara Ghana Limited, Danquah
\nAddo-Yobo. <\/p>\n

Addo-Yobo
\ncommented that Yara Ghana was encouraged to continue with its support for the
\ncocoa sector. Commenting further, he indicated that Yara Ghana had played a
\npioneering role in the fertilizer input sector of Ghana\u2019s cocoa industry with
\nthe introduction of Asaase Wura cocoa fertilizer in 2005. <\/p>\n

The
\nintroduction of the Asaase Wura cocoa fertilizer helped improve cocoa farmers\u2019
\nyields and profitably quite significantly. <\/p>\n

\u201cResults
\nfrom several demonstration farms across cocoa growing areas have shown that
\nAsaase Wura and Nitrabor package has consistently shown an average percentage
\nyield increase of 50% for the plots that had Asaase Wura and Nitrabor applied,
\ncompared to the traditional farm practice plots,\u201d the managing director further
\nintimated.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlong
\nwith our distribution and retail partners, Yara also organizes crop clinics and
\ntraining programmes and reaches thousands of cocoa farmers every year, through
\nthe Healthier Cocoa Campaigns. Several thousands of farmers have been trained
\nover the past years under this programme,\u201d he further added.<\/p>\n

Addo-Yobo
\nfurther took the opportunity to acknowledge the collaboration and support of
\nthe Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana (CRIG) regarding trials on Asaase Wura
\nand Nitrabor and the Ghana Cocoa Board and reiterated that Yara Ghana would
\ncontinue to support the Ghana Cocoa Board in its drive to improve the sector.<\/p>\n

The
\nGhana Cocoa Awards, an initiative of VC Media Limited, recognizes and celebrates
\noutstanding achievements in the Ghana cocoa value chain. The finalists were
\ndrawn from a total of 161 entries filed by individuals, companies and institutions
