\nthe Republic Bank Ghana to provide quality and affordable homes to Ghanaians.<\/p>\n
The agreement, which spans over a period of 20 years, will see Republic
\nBank provide mortgage financing to the SHC to help it roll out its Nationwide
\nAffordable Housing Agenda.<\/p>\n
The financing facility will offer the SHC a mortgage rate of less than
\n12 per cent.
At a brief ceremony to commemorate the signing
\nat the Head Office of the Republic Bank in Accra, last Friday, Managing
\nDirector of the SHC, Kwabena Ampofo Appiah, iterated that his outfit was poised
\nand in good standing to provide lasting solutions to the housing needs of Ghanaians.<\/p>\n
The investment, he noted, corresponded with
\nefforts to close Ghana\u2019s housing gap which was estimated at about two million
\npeople.
\u201cThe core mandate of SHC is to increase the
\navailability of dwelling houses in Ghana by providing affordable houses in
\nGhana; and quality is one thing we don\u2019t compromise on,\u201d he stressed.<\/p>\n
He added that accommodation facilities under the
\npartnership would not sell over GH\u00a2140,000 thus making it affordable for all
\nGhanaians.<\/p>\n
On his part, Managing Director (MD) of Republic
\nBank, Ghana, Farid Antar, hinted that the bank\u2019s partnership with SHC was
\nexpected to improve the country\u2019s relatively low mortgage finance penetration
\nrate, which was one of the most critical factors contributing to the housing
\ngap.<\/p>\n
\u201cHome financing will remain one of our key
\nstrengths and we confirm the bank\u2019s commitment to play our part to help reduce
\nthe housing deficit in the country,\u201d he assured.<\/p>\n
