The Local Government
\nMinistry has announced the setting aside of some streets within the Greater
\nAccra and Ashanti regions as street markets during the Yuletide.<\/p>\n
The \u201cStreet
\nHawking Markets\u201d, according to a statement signed by sector minister, Hajia
\nAlima Mahama, would operate between 5am and 11pm from Monday, December 16,
\n2019, through to Wednesday, January 1, 2020.<\/p>\n
All the
\ndesignated hawking streets in the 13 Metropolitan, Municipal and District
\nAssemblies (MMDAs) will be closed to motor traffic within the period indicated
\nabove.<\/p>\n
The
\ninitiative which is in collaboration with the MMDAs and the Motor Traffic and
\nTransport Division (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service is an effort to ensure a
\nsafe Christmas buying and selling activities, the minister explained.<\/p>\n
It further
\nadvised hawkers, drivers, other road users and the general public \u201cto comply
\nwith the above measures and vacate all unauthorised places within the MMDAs to
\nease vehicular and pedestrian mobility.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Street
\nHawking Markets include Accra Metropolitan Assembly, Station Road, Kimberly
\nAvenue, Granville Avenue, Commercial Street (Drug Lane) and Clement Papafio
\nStreet \u2013 all the roads are located at Okaishie.<\/p>\n
La Nkwatanang
\nMadina Municipal Assembly, Nkulenu roads, roads in front of old Assembly Office
\nand Asante and Asante Road \u2013 all the roads are located at Madina.<\/p>\n
Ayawaso West
\nMunicipal Assembly, Garden Road, East Legon, Adentan Municipal Assembly, Adentan
\nShopping Mall and Ogbojo Market.<\/p>\n
Ashaiman
\nMunicipal Assembly, Ashiaman main Market Street to Lebene Junction, Doku -Pinto
\nStreet and Government School Street \u2013 all the roads are located at Ashiaman.<\/p>\n
Okaikwei
\nNorth Municipal Assembly, Lapaz \u2013 the double outer lane from Fraga Oil to
\nAbrante Spot; Abeka Junction \u2013 Achimota Station- Neoplan (YaaDensua), Ablekuma
\nCentral, from Kaneshie First Light to Mpamprom outer lane.<\/p>\n
Tema
\nMetropolitan Assembly, Central Business District, Korley Klottey Municipal
\nAssembly, the Cooperative Taxi Rank \u2013 Kwame Nkrumah Circle, along the CMB area
\n(Adjabeng) and Tudu area from Kinbu SHS towards Central Police Station.<\/p>\n
Ablekuma
\nNorth Municipal Assembly, outer lane of Mallam Market Road at Sakaman.<\/p>\n
Ga North
\nMunicipal Assembly \u2013 1.Ofankor Methodist School Park, 2.Commonwealth Stadium
\nJunction \u2013 Afiaman, Ga East Municipal Assembly, from railway crossing through
