Washington 2018, the president announced and launched to the world that 2019 was going to be tag-lined \u2018The Year of the Return\u2019 for Ghana. At that event, President Akufo-Addo said, \u201cWe know of the extraordinary achievements and contributions they [Africans in the diaspora] made to the lives of the Americans and it is important that this symbolic year\u2014400 years later\u2014we commemorate their existence and their sacrifices.\u201d<\/p>\n

At World Remit we have to applaud President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for this laudable event and initiative. The Year of Return will be driving thousands of people to Ghana this December \u2013 creating new experiences. Diasporans will have the opportunity to reconnect with their family and friends which for some, they have not seen in many years.
