{"id":766141,"date":"2019-12-16T17:30:39","date_gmt":"2019-12-16T17:30:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2019\/12\/16\/policeman-shoots-drivers-mate\/"},"modified":"2019-12-16T17:30:39","modified_gmt":"2019-12-16T17:30:39","slug":"policeman-shoots-drivers-mate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2019\/12\/16\/policeman-shoots-drivers-mate\/","title":{"rendered":"Policeman Shoots Drivers\u2019 Mate &#8211;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>The victim lying in an ambulance to Korle-Bu<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Lance Corporal Frank Amoako has been placed in police custody by the<br \/>\nWestern Regional Police Command for allegedly shooting a driver\u2019s mate at<br \/>\nKojokrom, near Sekondi.<\/p>\n<p>Initial reports were that the policeman shot the driver\u2019s mate identified<br \/>\nas John Essandoh in the leg over an alleged refusal to pay bribe at a police<br \/>\nbarrier at Inchaban, near Kojokrom.<\/p>\n<p>An eyewitness told journalists that the policeman was on duty at the<br \/>\nKetan Police Barrier at about 3:15 am on Friday, December 13, 2019 and the mate<br \/>\nwas with his driver in charge of a DAF truck with registration WR 3059: 14,<br \/>\nwhich was on its way from Takoradi to Tema in the Greater Accra Region.<\/p>\n<p>On reaching the barrier, Lance Corporal Amoako who was on duty<br \/>\ndetected that one of the taillights of the truck was defective and in the<br \/>\nprocess, he allegedly demanded GH\u00a2150, but the driver who had then got down<br \/>\nfrom the truck refused, climbed into the vehicle and drove away.<\/p>\n<p>The policeman allegedly followed the vehicle and later spotted it parked<br \/>\nat Kojokrom. The suspect reportedly moved closer to the vehicle and saw only<br \/>\nthe mate.<\/p>\n<p>In the process of arresting the mate, the policeman\u2019s gun went off<br \/>\nand hit the mate in his left leg.<\/p>\n<p>However, in an interview with <strong><em>DAILY GUIDE<\/em><\/strong>, DSP Olivia Ewurabena Adiku,<br \/>\nHead of Public Affairs Unit of the Western Regional Police Command, said<br \/>\ninvestigations into the case to ascertain exactly what took place were ongoing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe police had not been able to take statement from the victim,<br \/>\nJohn Essandoh, due to the serious nature of the injuries,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>She confirmed that Lance Corporal Amoako had been placed in custody as<br \/>\na result of the shooting incident leading to the injuries of the driver\u2019s mate.<\/p>\n<p>She said the victim was on admission at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital<br \/>\nfor further treatment.<\/p>\n<p> <strong>From Emmanuel Opoku, Takoradi<\/strong> <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The victim lying in an ambulance to Korle-Bu Lance Corporal Frank Amoako has been placed in police custody by the Western Regional Police Command for allegedly shooting a driver\u2019s mate at Kojokrom, near Sekondi.
