President
\nNana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has advised the Muslim youth to help change the
\nnarrative of the Zongo community being the den for recruiting violent persons
\nto cause mayhem during elections.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Muslim
\nyouth cannot continue to be the ones who are used for violent purposes. Do not
\nallow yourselves to be used by irresponsible politicians to engage in acts of
\ndestabilization and violence,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Speaking
\nat the inauguration of the National and Greater Accra Regional Executives of
\nthe Tijaniya Muslim Council under the theme: \u201cReligious Tolerance, The Panacea
\nFor Peaceful Coexistence\u201d in Accra yesterday, the President said \u201cI advise you
\nto take the guidance of your Sheikhs seriously.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI want
\nto make this appeal to you: in 2020, do not allow yourselves to be used by
\nirresponsible politicians to engage in acts of destabilization and violence,\u201d
\nhe stressed.<\/p>\n

He also
\nurged peace-loving Muslims to speak up against radicalism and all forms of
\nviolence that are being negatively perpetuated in the name of religion, saying \u201cit
\nis for you to rescue Islam from the extremists whose activities around the
\nworld seem to be defining Islam.\u201d<\/p>\n

President
\nAkufo-Addo congratulated the new members of the council and spoke of his
\nunflinching commitment to create a society for all Ghanaians irrespective of
\nreligion, ethnicity and gender. \u201cPolicies such as the establishment of the free
\nsenior high school, establishment of the Zongo Development Fund are meant to
\nachieve this goal,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The Tijaniya
\nMuslim Council is the representation of the Tijaniya Sufi sect in Ghana. <\/p>\n

National
\nexecutives of the council include Shaykh Ahmad Abul-Faid A.A. Maikano as
\nSpiritual Head and President, Alhaji Mohammed Tahoe Saeed as Chairman, Musa
\nBawa as Vice Chairman, Ahmad Abdallah as General Secretary and Alhassan Baylor
\nas Deputy Secretary.<\/p>\n

Other
\nexecutives include Abdul Rahman Salifu as Treasurer, Alhaji Tijani Jibril as
\nDeputy Treasurer, Abdul Rahman Mohammed as Organizer, Abdul
\nLatif Mohammed as Deputy Organizer and Abubakar Musa Commander as
\nCommunications Director.<\/p>\n

The Greater Accra Regional Executives include Mallam Sani Thyabu as Chairman, Nuhu Shaibu Ayiki as Vice Chairman, Mallam Abdul Fatawu Musah as General Secretary, Mallam Adam Ibrahim Baako as Treasurer, among others.<\/p>\n
