{"id":765829,"date":"2019-12-16T11:21:12","date_gmt":"2019-12-16T11:21:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2019\/12\/16\/npp-roads-are-real-bawumia\/"},"modified":"2019-12-16T11:21:12","modified_gmt":"2019-12-16T11:21:12","slug":"npp-roads-are-real-bawumia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2019\/12\/16\/npp-roads-are-real-bawumia\/","title":{"rendered":"NPP Roads Are Real -Bawumia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Vice-President Bawumia doing the symbolic sod-cutting in Kumasi on Friday<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>VICE-PRESIDENT Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has said roads construction in<br \/>\nthe Ashanti Region and other parts of the country under the Akufo-Addo<br \/>\nadministration are real and not fake.<\/p>\n<p>He said in times past, there was a political grouping in power<br \/>\ncalled the National Democratic Congress (NDC) that was busily engaged in the<br \/>\nconstruction of phantom projects which could only be found in its propaganda<br \/>\nGreen Book.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPresident Akufo-Addo\u2019s government is not going to construct Green<br \/>\nBook roads,\u201d Dr. Bawumia jabbed the NDC when he cut the sod for the<br \/>\nRehabilitation and Auxiliary Infrastructure of Kumasi Inner Ring Road and<br \/>\nAdjacent Streets Project, which was held at Kentinkrono Nsenee last Friday.<\/p>\n<p>A total of 100 kilometres of roads would be rehabilitated under this<br \/>\nproject, which would include the construction of drains, culverts and roads in<br \/>\nKumasi.<\/p>\n<p>Areas to benefit from this massive road project are Kumasi Metro<br \/>\n(Manhyia, Bantama, Subin, Nhyiaeso), Asokwa, Kwadaso, Suame, Tafo and Oforikrom<br \/>\nmunicipalities<\/p>\n<p>The Vice-President said former President John Mahama and his NDC<br \/>\ngovernment continually lied in their Green Book that they had constructed a lot<br \/>\nof roads, but the NDC has been exposed because almost every road in the country<br \/>\nis in a deplorable state.<\/p>\n<p>He said \u201cthe NPP government will construct real roads,\u201d which would<br \/>\nease the movement of people and goods.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Bawumia said 55 million Euros, which is the project\u2019s cost, had<br \/>\nbeen secured already hence the project would not encounter any financial<br \/>\nchallenges so Kumasi residents should not worry.<\/p>\n<p>He said the government had realised that bad roads remain the number<br \/>\none challenge for the people of Ashanti Region, notably Kumasi. He gave an<br \/>\nassurance that the NPP administration would do its best to solve the road<br \/>\nproblems.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Bawumia announced that government had already tackled a<br \/>\nsignificant number of road projects in the region, including 70 kilometres<br \/>\nasphalt project in Kumasi, which would be increased to 200 kilometres by 2020.<\/p>\n<p>He said the country cannot transform as expected if the roads are in<br \/>\na deplorable state, for which reason President Akufo-Addo has declared 2020 as<br \/>\na year of roads.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwasi Amoako-Atta, said the ministry<br \/>\nwas coming out with a policy that would ensure that contractors always<br \/>\ndelivered quality roads in order to ensure the longevity of roads in the<br \/>\ncountry.<\/p>\n<p>He appealed to residents of Kumasi to give the needed co-operation to the contractors so that they would be able to complete the roads on schedule.<\/p>\n<p> <strong>FROM I.F.
