\nLeanne Chapman and her partner returned to their home in Brisbane, Queensland on Thursday, and noticed a commotion on their balcony.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n
There are many ways to decorate a\u00a0Christmas\u00a0tree \u2014 from monotone minimalism to old-school kitsch.<\/p>\n
But for one woman in\u00a0Australia, the seasonal theme was very big snakes, when she got home to find a 10-foot\u00a0python\u00a0adorning her tree.<\/p>\n
Leanne Chapman and her partner returned to their home in Brisbane,\u00a0Queensland\u00a0on Thursday, and noticed a commotion on their balcony.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe came home from work and there\u2019s a couple of butcher birds that \nvisit every day and they were just kicking off on the balcony, going \ncrazy,\u201d Chapman told CNN affiliate 7News.<\/p>\n
Chapman, who is originally from England, told 7News that her partner \nstarted to video the birds, and leaning on the tree \u2014 not realizing \nwhat lay wrapped around it.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs he\u2019s turned around and stepped back, he didn\u2019t realise he was \nleaning on the Christmas tree with the snake wrapped around it,\u201d she \ntold 7News.<\/p>\n
The couple left the snake alone, and later that night, it slithered away.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt wasn\u2019t bothered by us. It just stayed there for a good few hours as we watched it through the window,\u201d Chapman said.<\/p>\n
It was only when the reptile moved from its position that the couple realised how big it was.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was big \u2014 really big,\u201d Chapman said.<\/p>\n
\u201cAfter the initial shock wore off, it was a really beautiful snake,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was actually quite nice to see it that close up because I\u2019ve never seen anything like it before,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
