Justice Anin-Yeboah <\/strong><\/p>\n

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo
\nhas appointed Justice Kwasi Anin-Yeboah as the new Chief Justice and has accordingly
\nforwarded his name to Parliament for vetting and approval.<\/p>\n

The First Deputy Speaker, Joseph
\nOsei-Owusu, who made the announcement in Parliament yesterday, has, therefore,
\nreferred the nominee to the Appointments Committee of Parliament for vetting
\nand subsequent approval by the House.<\/p>\n

The President appealed to the
\nSpeaker to fast-track the vetting and approval of the new
\nChief Justice-designate, since the current Chief Justice, Justice Sophia A.B. Akuffo,
\nwould be retiring on December 20, this year.<\/p>\n

Parliament is also expected to rise
\nfor the Christmas holidays on December 20.<\/p>\n

The Chief Justice-designate was
\nappointed to the Supreme Court in 2008 by former President J.A. Kufuor after
\nserving as a High Court judge from 2002 to 2003 and as an Appeal Court judge
\nfrom 2003 to 2008.<\/p>\n

In May 2017, Anin-Yeboah was
\nformally appointed Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee at the 67th FIFA
\nCongress in Bahrain.<\/p>\n

He again served as the Chairman of
\nthe Appeal Committee of the Ghana Football Association from 2004 to 2008.<\/p>\n

Apart from being a justice of the Supreme
\nCourt, Justice Anin-Yeboah is also a part-time lecturer in Civil Procedure and
\nthe Ghana Legal System at the Ghana School of Law.<\/p>\n

Anin-Yeboah\u2019s legal experience
\nincludes writing judgments on constitutional matters, civil and criminal cases
\nand also providing opinions on legal matters in the West African nation.<\/p>\n

Justice Anin-Yeboah\u2019s name is also
\nclosely associated with football. In May 2017, he was appointed the Chairman of
\nthe Disciplinary Committee of the Federation of International Football
\nAssociations (FIFA).<\/p>\n

In September 2019, he was named
\nonto the CAF\/FIFA Reform Implementation Taskforce team for African football. He
\nwas appointed along with five others to carry out reforms within African
\nfootball.<\/p>\n

He also served as the Chairman of the Appeal\u2019s Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) from 2004 to 2008.<\/p>\n
