{"id":764258,"date":"2019-12-13T11:44:29","date_gmt":"2019-12-13T11:44:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2019\/12\/13\/gridco-staff-suspend-sit-down-strike\/"},"modified":"2019-12-13T11:44:29","modified_gmt":"2019-12-13T11:44:29","slug":"gridco-staff-suspend-sit-down-strike","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2019\/12\/13\/gridco-staff-suspend-sit-down-strike\/","title":{"rendered":"GRIDCo staff suspend sit-down strike"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"387\" class=\"entry-thumb td-modal-image\" src=\"https:\/\/ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/gridco-ed-Copy-696x387.jpg\"   alt=\"\" title=\"gridco-ed (Copy)\"\/><\/div>\n<p>Senior Staff of Association of the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) have suspended their sit-down strike with immediate effect, following a \u2018plea\u2019 from management of the company in anticipation of responses from debtors.<\/p>\n<p>The workers on December 11, embarked on an industrial action to compel government and other state institutions to pay debts owed the power transmission company.<\/p>\n<p>A statement by the GRIDCo Senior Staff Association said: \u201cFrom today, December 12, 2019, the sit-down strike has been suspended\u201d <\/p>\n<p><strong>ALSO READ<\/strong>: <strong>Check this: Prize of most expensive State house<\/strong><\/p>\n<p> \u201cThe staff will however continue to withdraw all emergency services outside normal working hours including weekends,\u201d it added. <\/p>\n<p> Meanwhile, leadership of the association says the staff will continue hoisting red flags at all GRIDCo locations and wearing  <\/p>\n<p>GRIDCo runs the National Interconnected Transmission System (NITS) which ensures the transmission of electricity from wholesale suppliers (generating companies) to bulk customers, which include the ECG, NEDCo among others.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ALSO READ<\/strong>: <strong>Revealed: This is how much ECG, VALCO, NEDCO owe GRIDCO<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The GRIDCo staff are demanding that some GHS250 million which President Nana Akufo-Addo directed the Finance Minister to pay GRIDCo.<\/p>\n<p>They are also demanding the following debts be paid immediately to GRIDCo: VALCo\u2019s debt of about $32,567,974 as of September 30; ECG\u2019s debt of about GHS607 million as of March 1, 2019; the PDS debt of GHS94,204, 903 which ECG collected during the suspension of the PDS; the NEDCo debt of about GHS177 million as of September 30, 2019.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Senior Staff of Association of the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) have suspended their sit-down strike with immediate effect, following a \u2018plea\u2019 from management of the company in anticipation of responses from debtors.
