Kelly has been charged with bribing a government official to arrange a fake ID to marry singer Aaliyah when she was 15.<\/p>\n<p>Court documents obtained by NBC indicted the singer on a new count of bribery stemming from an effort in 1994 to get the fake document.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Read Also:\u00a0BREAKING: R Kelly slammed with 11 new counts of sexual assault and abuse<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The federal prosecutors alleged that the singer, a day to his wedding to Aaliyah, bribed a public official in Illinois to create a fake ID for \u201cJane Doe #1.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to NBC the unnamed person was R&amp;B singer and actress Aaliyah, who Kelly married in 1994 when he was 27.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-728458\" src=\"https:\/\/ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/5de9f5729b6fa.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"257\"\/><\/p>\n<p>In the official Illinois wedding certificate, it was stated that she was 18 at the time of the wedding.<\/p>\n<p>Defense attorney Douglas C. Anton, who is handling R. Kelly\u2019s New York case, called the new bribery charge \u201can absolute absurdity, backed by more innuendo and baseless accusations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo think that the Federal Government has nothing better to do then go back 25 years and address a \u2018fake ID\u2019 charge makes their whole case weaker,\u201d Anton told NBC News.<\/p>\n<p>              &#13;\n                    <\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>R Kelly, Aaliyah Singer, R.
