Ghana
\nand South Africa have sealed a deal for the establishment of a Bi-National
\nCommission.<\/p>\n

The
\ndeal was signed at the Jubilee House, the seat of government, in Ghana\u2019s
\ncapital, Accra, on the sidelines of the working visit of South Africa\u2019s
\nPresident, Cyril Ramaphosa.<\/p>\n

The
\nMinister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey,
\nsigned the agreement on behalf of Ghana while Dr. Naledi Pandor, Minister of
\nInternational Relations and Co-operation signed on behalf of South Africa.<\/p>\n

The
\nBi-National Commission will seek ways and means to enhance co-operation in the
\nvarious sectors of government and to co-ordinate and facilitate contact between
\nthe public and private sectors of the two countries.<\/p>\n

The
\ncommission will establish a framework within which the parties may conduct
\ntheir relationship and set out the modalities and institutional mechanisms of
\nco-operation.<\/p>\n

The
\ncommission shall per the agreement be chaired jointly by the Presidents of the
\ntwo countries or their authorised representatives in line
\nwith the accepted diplomatic protocol.<\/p>\n

Structure<\/strong><\/p>\n

It
\nshall consist of senior government representatives of the parties in the
\nvarious sectors of co-operation agreed upon for the achievement of the commission\u2019s
\nobjectives and adopt its own rules of procedure.<\/p>\n

There
\nwould be the establishment of Sectoral Committees when necessary, and public
\nand private sector representatives may be invited to participate in meetings of
\nSectoral Committees or in other structures established by the committees in
\nline with the agreement.<\/p>\n

Sectoral
\nCommittees shall per the agreement adopt their own rules of procedure
\nconsistent with the rules of the commission and present reports of its meetings
\nto the commission for approval.<\/p>\n

Areas
\nof co-operation include economic, cultural, scientific, technical, social and
\nother areas that may be identified by the parties.<\/p>\n

Mr. Ramaphosa arrived in Ghana on Wednesday night for a two-day working visit.<\/p>\n
