Madam Kate Gyamfua addresses the NPP national women\u2019s conference in Takoradi<\/em> <\/strong><\/p>\n

Over the weekend, the national women\u2019s
\nconference of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), the first of its kind in
\nthe party\u2019s history, took place at the Western regional capital of Takoradi. <\/p>\n

The signature red, white and blue colours
\npainted the oil city. The conference was attended by all 275 constituency and
\n16 regional women organisers of the party, their deputies, all female party
\nexecutives at all levels, women groups, including female Members of Parliament
\n(MPs), renowned female clergies and apolitical women groups. Others were women
\nmetropolitan, municipal and district chief executives (MMDCEs), female political
\nappointees from the governing party, female volunteer groups, among others.<\/p>\n

Volunteer ladies\u2019 groups such as Loyal
\nLadies, Staunch Queens and Women\u2019s Wing Maidens drunk from the same cup,
\nworking together to make the conference successful. <\/p>\n

The
\nthree-day all-women\u2019s programme, which was apparently taken over by men, was meant
\nto whip up the political enthusiasm of the women in the party and more
\nimportantly, get them actively involved in the party\u2019s organisation ahead of
\nthe 2020 electioneering period. <\/p>\n

According to the national women organiser,
\nMadam Kate Gyamfua, the conference was to \u201cserve as an avenue for the network
\nof ideas and campaign strategy in the run-up to the general elections in 2020.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

Both
\nfirst and second ladies, Rebecca Akufo-Addo and Hajia Samira Bawumia, respectively,
\ngraced the occasion as the special guests of honour.<\/p>\n

Publicity and preparation<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ahead of the conference, the national
\nwomen organiser went on a media tour to whip up interest of party members,
\nsupporters and all those who would be interested in attending the conference.
\nHer social media team, led by the ever hardworking Seth Nana Boampong, flooded
\nall social media platforms with flyers, short videos and pictures to stimulate
\npeople\u2019s appetite. <\/p>\n

As a true leader, who takes the lead,
\nMadam Gyamfua proved that a good leader did not boss around neither did she sit
\nfor others to do the work without her direct involvement. <\/p>\n

Believing in the principle of leadership,
\nas one who assigns duties, supervises and gets herself involved in getting the
\njob done, with the strong conviction that result is the ultimate speaker of a
\nleader\u2019s work, she was seen in Takoradi several days before the programme. She
\nsometimes worked deep into the night in ensuring the successful execution of
\nthe programme. It is therefore not surprising that the programme recorded one of
\nthe highest numbers any single wing within a political grouping can pull in the
\ncountry. <\/p>\n

As the national women organiser, Madam Gyamfua
\nhas, on several platforms, expressed the unwavering commitment of her outfit to
\ngalvanizing not only the women in the NPP, but also the women of Ghana in
\ngeneral, to vigorously campaign for and vote overwhelmingly for the governing
\nparty in the elections of 2020 and beyond. And to her, this is a solemn pledge
\nthat must be fulfilled through all legal means possible. <\/p>\n

A lot of hard work, thinking, dedication,
\nresilience, among others, went into the planning and preparation for the
\nprogramme, hence its huge success.<\/p>\n

I must say kudos to the 13-member
\ncommittee who helped the national women organiser in making the dream a reality.\n<\/p>\n

The Kate Gyamfua factor<\/strong><\/p>\n

When some of us started advocating for
\nMadam Gyamfua to be elected as the party\u2019s women\u2019s leader, we believed in her
\ncapabilities. We trusted that she will deliver and yes, it appears our
\nexpectation of her was far less than what she could offer. As the adage goes,
\nthe taste of the pudding is in the eating. Her takeover of the women\u2019s wing has
\nrebranded and gingered the base of the women\u2019s wing, making it the beautiful
\nnew maiden of the village who catches the eyes of all men, young and old.<\/p>\n

Ahead of the mega national conference, the
\nwomen\u2019s wing organised regional conferences in all of the 16 regions of the
\ncountry. The regional conferences served as curtain raisers for the national
\nconference. The regional women\u2019s conferences followed a workshop conducted in
\nKumasi for all 16 women regional organisers and their deputies. <\/p>\n

Madam Gyamfua also undertook a regional
\ntour to all the newly created regions where she interacted with both party
\nmembers and non-party members alike. This was aimed at mobilising and
\ninaugurating women groups in these new regions.<\/p>\n

Early this year, she came up with the
\nnational women\u2019s wing \u201cAll Women Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving\u201d, where members
\nof the party met at the Legon Botanical Garden to thank God for the many
\nsuccesses chalked by the party since forming government and to seek God\u2019s favour
\nfor President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the government.<\/p>\n

She then started with market visitations
\nand visited some key market centres in the country to educate the market women
\non the achievements of the NPP government.<\/p>\n

Following the market centre visitations,
\nMadam Gyamfua again embarked on a nationwide tour to meet with constituency and
\nregional women organisers of the party. She used the opportunity to address
\nsome of the challenges facing the women\u2019s wing in the various constituencies
\nand to ginger them up for the hard work ahead of the party.<\/p>\n

She later visited some international women\u2019s
\nwing branches of the party with some of her regional women organisers. Notable
\namong the places she visited were the United Kingdom and Germany, where she
\nsought to educate the party\u2019s diaspora women\u2019s wing on the achievement of the
\nparty.
She then met with all female volunteer groups in the party, to get them to
\nsynergise in helping the party secure resounding victory in 2020.<\/p>\n

One cannot be judged with a single test.
\nPassing the national women\u2019s conference test alone, though a huge achievement;
\ncould not have been used to judge her good works. <\/p>\n

But following closely what she has done in
\nthe past, then as Akwatia constituency women organiser, rising to become a
\ndeputy national women organiser and the hard work she is putting up as the current
\nnational women organizer; it is not surprising that the party people call her
\n\u2018operations\u2019.<\/p>\n

She has a strong understanding of what
\nrecent day political mobilisation is and this seems to be working perfectly in
\nher favour in the way she conducts herself.<\/p>\n

The NPP women\u2019s wing is definitely not the
\nsame as she took it some few months ago. The women\u2019s wing can now be regarded
\nas the biggest mobilisation force of the party. From all indication, it is
\nclear the women\u2019s wing will be the face of the party\u2019s 2020 campaign.<\/p>\n

Indeed, the Kate Gyamfua factor is changing the face of political parties\u2019 mobilisation in the country.<\/p>\n
