CHIEF EXECUTIVE Officer of Ghana Export Import
\nBank (GEXIM), Lawrence Agyinsam, has indicated that the bank will continue to
\nsupport the Shea industry in northern Ghana with financial and advisory
\nsupport.<\/p>\n

This will help improve the living conditions of
\nthe women in the Shea value chain and generate income.<\/p>\n

Mr Agyinsam, who disclosed this when he
\naddressed the official launch of the World Shea EXPO 2020, in Accra, recently,
\nnoted: \u201cTo date through a collaboration with the Samira Empowerment and
\nHumanitarian Projects (SEHP), we have sunk in about GH\u00a240 million in the
\nindustry.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr. Agyinsam said the project was key to the
\nbank because it was in line with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo\u2019s vision
\nto transform Ghana into an industrialized country and provide meaningful
\nlivelihood for its hardworking citizens.<\/p>\n

As a potent raw material, he said the product,
\nwhich had integrated into a very sophisticated global production and supply
\nchain, had tremendous power to propel rural economies and transform the lives
\nof millions in the sub region, Africa and the world as a whole.<\/p>\n

In an address, Hajia Samira Bawumia, the Second
\nLady, said the Shea tree had now gone beyond being an integral part of life in
\nthe northern part of the country, to becoming a viable economic venture.
\u201cThe collection and processing of Shea-nuts are significant activities for
\nwomen in those regions, since they provide them with income for livelihood and
\nthe demand for Shea has been growing and manufacturers are responding by
\ncreating products desired by global consumers\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

She said an event such as the Shea Expo, which
\nbrought together players in the value chain, was an opportunity to expand
\nknowledge on the Shea industry.
Some exhibitors at the launch have expressed the hope that their participation
\nin the World Shea Expo would enable them build networks for future expansion of
\ntheir businesses.<\/p>\n

The event is slated for Tamale from April
\n22-25, 2020.<\/p>\n

The theme is: \u201cRepositioning the Shea Industry
\nto Accelerate Ghana\u2019s Export Diversification Agenda within the context of Ghana
\nBeyond Aid\u201d.
