{"id":759540,"date":"2019-12-06T10:02:07","date_gmt":"2019-12-06T10:02:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2019\/12\/06\/ndc-runs-to-kyebi-to-beg\/"},"modified":"2019-12-06T10:02:07","modified_gmt":"2019-12-06T10:02:07","slug":"ndc-runs-to-kyebi-to-beg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2019\/12\/06\/ndc-runs-to-kyebi-to-beg\/","title":{"rendered":"NDC Runs To Kyebi To Beg"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Kwame Zu (in smock) being made to retract the defamatory comment he made about the Okyenhene<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>THE opposition National Democratic<br \/>\nCongress (NDC) led by some of its national executives yesterday dashed to the<br \/>\nOfori Panin Fie, the seat of the Okyeman Traditional Council, at Kyebi to<br \/>\nrender an unqualified\u00a0apology to the Okyenhene, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori<br \/>\nPanin.<\/p>\n<p>The party members who feared they<br \/>\ncould be rejected at Akyem following their rude behaviour towards the Okyenhene<br \/>\nentered Kyebi with the main perpetrator, Kwame Zu, to ask for forgiveness from<br \/>\nthe Traditional Council after some of their elements had bragged that they<br \/>\nwould never apologise.<\/p>\n<p>The NDC gurus that went to Ofori Panin<br \/>\nFie included their National Chairman, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo; Second Vice<br \/>\nChairperson, Betty Mould Iddrisu; former Eastern Regional Minister, Emmanuel<br \/>\nVictor Smith, among others, in the company of the foul-mouthed Kwame Zu who is<br \/>\ntheir Ashanti Regional Secretary.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Media<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When the NDC delegation spotted some<br \/>\njournalists around Ofori Panin Fie, Victor Smith, who was not happy with the<br \/>\npresence of the media, quickly rushed to the Okyenhene\u2019s protocol to beg them<br \/>\nto let the journalists leave the meeting but their plea was rejected.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Main Charges<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Kyebi-Gyasehene, Barima Darko Ako-Ampem,<br \/>\nlaid the charges against Kwame Zu and said he should pay 98 sheep to purify the<br \/>\nstool.<\/p>\n<p>However, the Okyenhemaa, Nana Dokua,<br \/>\nquickly intervened by calling on the Traditional Council to reduce the fine imposed<br \/>\non Kwame Zu.<\/p>\n<p>The council entered into a caucus<br \/>\nmeeting and when they were done, the Okyenhene linguist, Antwi Boasiako, said<br \/>\nthe council had agreed that the NDC should pay a fine of 48 sheep and 48 bottles<br \/>\nof Schnapps to purify the stool.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Purification\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Thereafter, the NDC executives were<br \/>\nmarched to the \u201cOkyeman Bosam Bouso\u201d to perform libation. Besides,<br \/>\nthey slaughtered a sheep as purification rights with regard to the dent they<br \/>\nbrought to the Okyeman Stool as a result of Kwame Zu\u2019s insults.<\/p>\n<p>Kwame Zu was ordered to remove his<br \/>\nshoes and was paraded before the \u201cBosam Bouso\u201d as onlookers who besieged the<br \/>\nplace hooted at him for insulting the Okyenhene.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Chiefs<br \/>\nWarnings\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Okyeman Adontendomhene, Dasebre<br \/>\nBoamah Darko, who is the chief of Akyem-Kukruantumi, then sounded a strong<br \/>\nwarning to the NDC to desist from making derogatory remarks against the<br \/>\nOkyenhene and the Okyeman Traditional Council.<\/p>\n<p><strong>NDC Chairman<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>NDC Chairman Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo, on<br \/>\nbehalf of the party, then pleaded with the chiefs to tamper justice with mercy.<\/p>\n<p>He said when the incident happened,<br \/>\nthe NDC ordered Kwame Zu to render a public apology which he did and added that<br \/>\nthe NDC respects the Okyeman Traditional Council.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Okyeman Boycott<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Initially, it was announced that Osagyefuo<br \/>\nAmoatia Ofori Panin was going to be present at the meeting but he did not show<br \/>\nup.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Free To Go<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Okyenhene linguist later announced<br \/>\nthat the Okyenhene had forgiven the NDC members and also said they were free to<br \/>\ngo without collecting any of the fines imposed on them.<\/p>\n<p>According to the linguist, the<br \/>\nOkyenhene does not have any problem with the NDC and cannot take anything from<br \/>\nthem.<\/p>\n<p>He said the Okyeman Traditional<br \/>\nCouncil had lifted the ban on the NDC and the party had been allowed to operate<br \/>\non Okyeman lands.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo, on behalf of the party, thanked the Okyeman Traditional Council for forgiving the NDC.<\/p>\n<p> <strong>FROM Daniel Bampoe, Ofori \u2013 Panin Fie, Kyebi<\/strong> <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kwame Zu (in smock) being made to retract the defamatory comment he made about the Okyenhene THE opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) led by some of its national executives yesterday dashed to the Ofori Panin Fie, the seat of the Okyeman Traditional Council, at Kyebi to render an unqualified\u00a0apology to the Okyenhene, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":759541,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[5],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-759540","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-politics"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.8 -
