The
\n Minority in Parliament is demanding the immediate withdrawal of the new
\n denominations of the Ghana Cedi introduced by the Bank of Ghana (BoG).<\/p>\n

A
\n member of\u00a0the Finance Committee, Benjamin Komla Kpodo, in
\nquestioning\u00a0the timing for the issuance of\u00a0new notes, insisting
\nBoG\u00a0withdraws it for further consultations.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe
\n do not have any law, asking them to come specifically to the house to
\nseek permission to do so\u00a0but they should have mentioned this to us [and]
\n let\u2019s talk about it,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

The Bank of Ghana\u00a0on Friday, November 29, 2019,\u00a0announced the introduction of the GH\u20b5100 and GH\u20b5200\u00a0notes which are expected to be in circulation next week <\/p>\n

At
\n a news conference in Accra today the Bank of Ghana Governor Dr Ernest
\nAddison said the new notes will address \u201cthe significant increase in the
\n demand for higher denomination banknote and increased cost of
\nprinting.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking
\n to JoyNews Kwesi Parker-Wilson, Mr. Kpodo\u00a0was of the view that the
\nintroduction of the new denominations will only increase the rate\u00a0of
\ninflation in the country\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n
