Kate Gyamfuah<\/strong><\/p>\n

The women\u2019s wing
\nof the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has resolved to work assiduously to
\nretain the party in power.<\/p>\n

It said it would want
\nto ensure the continuation of its pro-poor policies of the Akufo-Addo administration
\nfor the benefit of all Ghanaians.<\/p>\n

The National
\nWomen\u2019s Organiser of the NPP, Kate Gyamfua, who spoke at the opening of the
\nmaiden National Women\u2019s Conference of the party at the Sekondi College in the
\nWestern Region, said even though victory for the party in the 2020 general
\nelection is inevitable, they would not be complacent.<\/p>\n

The three-day conference
\nis on the theme: \u2018women on the move for victory 2020\u2019, and they are seeking to
\n\u2018retool and re-energise\u2019 the various women groupings in moving the party
\ntowards a resounding 2020 victory.<\/p>\n

She said the NPP
\ngovernment had brought \u201cgreat relief\u201d to women than any other government in the
\nhistory of Ghana through its policies and programmes and mentioned that
\npolicies such as the Free Senior High School (FSHS), \u2018planting for food and
\njobs\u2019, Ghana school feeding programmes and the \u2018one district, one factory\u2019,
\namong other initiatives, are serving as catalyst for national development.<\/p>\n

She added that
\nthey would use the conference to build the capacity of its women and ensure
\nthat they articulate better the programmes and policies of the government.<\/p>\n

First Lady<\/strong><\/p>\n

In her brief speech,
\nFirst Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo commended the NPP women highly for persistently
\nsacrificing for the party at all times.<\/p>\n

She said they
\nwere splendid in 2016 and urged them to work extra hard to maintain the
\nmomentum to ensure the NPP retains power in 2020.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe need to
\nunite as women to fight our common opponents, but let us resist apathy. Our
\nfirst term had not been easy, but let me assure you that the years ahead will
\nbe better looking at the various policies being implemented,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Chief Of Staff<\/strong><\/p>\n

Chief of Staff Akosua
\nFrema Osei Opare said the NPP has, through its policies, demonstrated that it is
\nthe only political party that is interested in the welfare of Ghanaians,
\nparticularly women and children.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe the
\nwomen will lead the battle in 2020. We will move from house to house, market to
\nmarket and church to church to preach the party\u2019s good news to the people,\u201d
\nshe indicated.<\/p>\n

Freddie Blay<\/strong><\/p>\n

The National
\nChairman of NPP, Freddie W. Blay, said the critical role played by women for
\nNPP\u2019s victory in 2016 is still fresh in the memories of many people and urged
\nthem to continue good work ahead of the 2020 general election.<\/p>\n

He said it would
\ntake more than three years to fix the country\u2019s economy which collapsed under
\nthe previous NDC government, and appealed to the rank and file to be patient since
\nthe party would do everything within the law to ensure the government continues
\nto perform to the satisfaction of all.<\/p>\n

John Boadu<\/strong><\/p>\n

The General
\nSecretary of the NPP, John Boadu, said women are largely beneficiaries of the many
\ninterventions, programmes and policies of the Akufo-Addo administration.<\/p>\n

He praised Madam Gyamfua for the successful organisation of the conference, which he described as timely.<\/p>\n
