Akua Donkor <\/strong><\/p>\n

The
\nSupreme Court has thrown out an attempt by Akua Donkor to push a claim of
\nculpability against the President and his Vice in the wake of the Anas Aremeyaw
\nAnas expos\u00e9 that captured massive rot in Ghana football which sent Kwasi
\nNyantakyi packing out of office.<\/p>\n

She
\nfiled the suit in June 2018 seeking reliefs, including an order to direct
\nPresident Akufo-Addo and Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to step down after
\nclaiming in the application that the two topmost officers in the country were
\ninvolved in acts of corruption as captured in Anas\u2019 piece on corruption in
\nGhana football.<\/p>\n

A
\nseven-member panel presided over by Justice Jones Victor Dotse dismissed the
\nwrit of Akua Donkor who is the leader of Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), describing
\nthe move as incompetent before slapping her with GH\u00a210,000 as cost.<\/p>\n

According
\nto Akua Donkor, the President and his Vice should be directed to step down because
\nshe claimed their names were mentioned by Kwasi Nyantakyi in the Anas videos.<\/p>\n

She
\nhad claimed that it was only when the President and his Vice stepped aside that
\nrelevant investigative bodies could look into the allegations purportedly made
\nby Kwasi Nyankyi thoroughly without any hindrance.<\/p>\n

Settlement Letter<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yesterday,
\nwhen the case was called, the judges announced that Akua Donkor wrote to the
\nRegistry of the court to have the case withdrawn for out of court settlement.<\/p>\n

However,
\nSylvester Williams, a Chief State Attorney, told the court that there was
\nnothing to be settled for in the matter.<\/p>\n

The
\nChief State Attorney was then obliged by the court to move his application and
\nhe vehemently opposed Akua Donkor\u2019s move.<\/p>\n

He
\nsaid the application by Akua Donkor, who was not present in court, lacked merit
\nand must not be countenanced by the court.<\/p>\n

The
\ncourt subsequently dismissed Akua Donkor\u2019s action and said it lacked merit.<\/p>\n

Other justices on the panel included Anin Yeboah, Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, Sule Gbadegbe, Samuel Marfu-Sau, Nene Amergacher and Agnes Dodzie.<\/p>\n
