Stephen Amoah \u2013 CEO of MASLOC<\/strong><\/p>\nThe Microfinance and Small Loans Centre
\n(MASLOC) Ghana has supported over 567 persons in the Ashaiman Municipality of
\nthe Greater Accra Region as part of the effort by the government to raise the living
\nstandard of most Ghanaians.<\/p>\n
According to Emmanuel Chapman Kodam Takyi, the Ashaiman
\nMunicipal Coordinator of MASLOC, the support is to expand the businesses of beneficiaries
\nwho are doing petty trading to make a living.<\/p>\n
He said that the application of 38 groups made
\nup of 25 persons in each group had been processed at Ashaiman and 24 of the groups
\nhad received their cash for trading.\u00a0 <\/p>\n
\u201cEach group is given GH\u00a225,000 to be distributed
\namong the 25 persons; that is GH\u00a21,000 per person,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn November 2018, five groups were processed
\nand had their money in April 2019. The five groups that received the first
\ntranche of the money are due to finish repayment in November 2019 at an
\ninterest rate of 2 per cent monthly for six months. Three people out of the 125
\npersons that were qualified to take the money in April didn\u2019t show up,\u201d he
\nadded.<\/p>\n
He also said that in May, 20 groups were worked
\non and 19 received their money in October.<\/p>\n
Ashaiman is expecting some 14 cheques. That is
\n13 for the groups that was worked on in August 2019 and one outstanding from
\nthe May groups.<\/p>\n
He said the municipality was one of the highest MASLOC beneficiaries.<\/p>\n
