It has been revealed that
\ninfrastructure, most especially bad roads, is the major challenge for most
\nGhanaians. <\/p>\n

A survey conducted by Afrobarometer
\nhas revealed that for the first time since 2002, infrastructure\/roads topped
\nthe list of citizens\u2019 priority problems, beating unemployment. <\/p>\n

Six in 10 Ghanaians,
\naccording to the survey (59 per cent), cited infrastructure\/roads among the
\nfirst three problems they want government to address.<\/p>\n

Concerns about infrastructure
\nand roads were found to be highest in Bono East (88 per cent), Oti (75 per
\ncent) and North East (72 per cent) regions. <\/p>\n

Fewer than half of residents
\nin Greater Accra, Upper East, Savannah and Eastern regions expressed concern
\nabout roads.<\/p>\n

The Afrobarometer team in
\nGhana, led by the Ghana Centre for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana),
\ninterviewed 2,400 adult Ghanaians between 16th September and 3rd October 2019
\nfor the survey. <\/p>\n

Less Concern <\/strong><\/p>\n

Interestingly, for the first time
\nsince 2002, unemployment was not seen as the major concern for most Ghanaians
\nappeared to have been ignored this time around.<\/p>\n

Less than four out of 10 (39
\nper cent) Ghanaians said employment was a \u2018big\u2019 issue. <\/p>\n

Year of Roads<\/strong><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the government has declared 2020 as a year of roads. In
\nthe 2020 budget, the government has projected to spend GH\u00a29.3 billion,
\nequivalent to 2.3 per cent of the country\u2019s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) on
\nselected infrastructure projects, especially roads across the country next
\nyear.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe projected amount is 53.5 per cent higher than the 2019 projected outturn, which was GH\u00a27.7 billion,\u201d the Minister of Finance, Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta, announced<\/p>\n
