Abandoned Kpandai GES office building<\/strong><\/p>\nThe Ghana Education Service (GES)
\nin the Kpandai District lacks enough office spaces to accommodate its staff, as
\nthe only structure that could serve them has been abandoned since 2008.<\/p>\n
According to the Kpandai District
\nEducation Director, Faustina Nayan, it has become almost impossible for the
\nKpandai Education Service to work effectively due to inadequate spaces. \u201cOfficers
\nare paired into two or three in a room which creates a lot of inconveniences,\u201d
\nshe said.<\/p>\n
She, therefore, appealed to
\nmanagers of the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) to complete the abandoned
\nstructure for the GES to enable them to have enough offices to accommodate
\nstaff.<\/p>\n
Currently, the entire proposed Kpandai
\nGhana Education Service office site has been taken over by weeds, while windows
\nand other wooden fittings on the building have been destroyed due to harsh
\nweather conditions over the years.\u00a0<\/p>\n
When contacted, the Kpandai
\nDistrict Chief Executive, Attah Emmanuel Kofi Tatablata, attributed the failure
\nto complete the structure to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) losing the election
\nto the then opposition National Democratic Party (NDC) in 2008.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThe structure was abandoned
\nbecause NPP left office but now that the NPP is back to power, the structure
\nwill be completed,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Mr. Tatablata said he had already
\nmet with the engineers to discuss the building issue and they were assessing how
\nthe government could assist in completing the structure.<\/p>\n
He said he had also made contacts
\nwith GETFund regarding the completion of the structure, saying \u201cwe have taken
\npictures of the structure and sent them to GETFund office in Accra for
\nconsideration. The assembly is not funding the project and I cannot talk much
\nabout the funding aspect but I can assure you that we will do follow-ups to
\nmake sure the project is completed.\u201d<\/p>\n
He urged the Kpandai Education
\nDirector to continue to collaborate with the assembly to help complete the
\nproject to boost education in the area.<\/p>\n
