Nana Appiah Mensah, aka NAM1 <\/strong><\/p>\n

The trial of the beleaguered Chief Executive
\nOfficer (CEO) of Menzgold Ghana Limited, Nana Appiah Mensah, aka NAM1, has
\ntaken another long adjournment as the prosecution says investigations are still
\nbeing conducted into the matter.<\/p>\n

The prosecution was expected to substitute the
\ncharge sheet before the court but ASP Sylvester Asare who is in charge of the
\ncase indicated that certain \u2018discoveries\u2019 during investigation require that
\nthey hold on for now.<\/p>\n

He indicated to the court presided over by
\nHarriet Akweley Quaye that investigations were far advanced and they were
\nseeking a long adjournment preferably in first week of January next year.<\/p>\n

The judge, however, said she could give a date
\nin January 2019 and asked the prosecution and the defence to rather decide on a
\ndate in December.<\/p>\n

The case was subsequently adjourned to December
\n23, 2019.<\/p>\n

Trial<\/strong><\/p>\n

NAM1 together with his wife Rose Tetteh and his
\nsister Benedicta Appiah, both at large, are facing a total of 13 counts of defrauding
\nby false pretences, money laundering, abetment and carrying on deposit-taking
\nbusiness without licence.<\/p>\n

They are facing six counts of defrauding by
\nfalse pretences, abetment, money laundering and carrying on deposit-taking
\nbusiness without licence.<\/p>\n

His companies \u2013 Menzgold Ghana Limited and Brew
\nMarketing Consult Limited \u2013 have also been charged with seven counts of
\ndefrauding by false pretences, and carrying on deposit-taking business without
\nlicence.<\/p>\n

NAM1 on July 26 pleaded not guilty to all the
\ncharges and the court presided over by Jane Harriet Akweley Quaye granted him
\nbail to the tune of GH\u00a21 billion (about $185 million) with five sureties, three
\nof which are to be justified.<\/p>\n

Additionally, he was ordered by the court to
\nreport to the police every Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Unable to satisfy the bail conditions, the
\ndefence team led by Kwame Boafo Akuffo later filed an application asking for
\nvariation of the terms. <\/p>\n

The presiding judge after listening to both sides maintained the sum of GH\u00a21 billion but removed the condition of three of the five sureties to be justified.<\/p>\n
