{"id":748627,"date":"2019-11-20T19:14:01","date_gmt":"2019-11-20T19:14:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2019\/11\/20\/we-wont-tax-churches-govt\/"},"modified":"2019-11-20T19:14:01","modified_gmt":"2019-11-20T19:14:01","slug":"we-wont-tax-churches-govt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2019\/11\/20\/we-wont-tax-churches-govt\/","title":{"rendered":"We Won&#8217;t Tax Churches &#8211; Gov&#8217;t"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Samuel Kofi Ahiave Dzamesi, Minister of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Government of Ghana has indicated clearly that it has no intention whatsoever to tax churches in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Minister of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Samuel Kofi Ahiave Dzamesi, made this known in an encounter with the media on Wednesday, November 20, 2019, at the Information Ministry in Accra.<\/p>\n<p>He noted emphatically that taxing religious bodies was not on the agenda of Government.<\/p>\n<p>Non-Compliance<\/p>\n<p>However, he expressed that Government was concern ed about some of the practices of religious bodies in the Ghanaian \u201csociety making it possible for us to raise issues that touch on their conduct and response to societal<br \/>concerns.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to him, particularly regarding compliance to laws and regulations, \u201cwe observe a degree of non-compliance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He stated that \u201cthis creates disaffection.
