Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia yesterday engaged
\nin a ground-breaking activity for commencement of work on the Hohoe-Dodo
\nPepease-Jasikan road \u2014
\na part of the abandoned Eastern Corridor highway.<\/p>\n

The activity has a
\ncrashing effect on the propaganda being perpetrated by opposition elements that
\nroads in the Volta Region are not receiving attention from government. <\/p>\n

It is part of the
\ndividends from the much-bashed Sinohyrdro funds from China, something the opposition
\nNational Democratic Congress (NDC) lobbied hard to drown, but the campaign
\nfailed. The funds are in and in the next few days, the Vice-President will be
\nbusy across various parts of the country cutting sods to flag off commencement
\nof work on major game-changing projects. <\/p>\n

Lined up for the sod-cutting activities are the abandoned inner roads of the tourist former capital of the Gold Coast, Cape Coast.<\/p>\n

Cape Coast is home to
\nmany historical castles which attract thousands of tourists from especially
\nAmerica, who troop to the place to have a glimpse of the slave dungeons. <\/p>\n

The upgrading of the
\nabandoned inner roads of the ancient town would go a long way to enhance
\ntourism. <\/p>\n

Following in the long
\nlist of sod-cutting events is that of the construction of the Nyinahin roads.<\/p>\n

DAILY GUIDE<\/em><\/strong>
\nhas gathered that other infrastructural projects all under the Sinohydro funds
\nwill be made public soon.<\/p>\n

For those who stood
\nagainst the barter arrangement for bauxite with the Chinese, this is not music
\nin their ears.<\/p>\n

Not only have the
\nfunds been released, but also dividends originating from them are becoming
\nmanifest. <\/p>\n

The journey to this
\nstage of the country\u2019s quest for funds to undertake infrastructural
\ndevelopments has been rough, full of sneers and jeers from the opposition. <\/p>\n

Observers of the
\ndevelopment said the changes that the funds would effect under prudent
\nmanagement would visit on the government massive leverage at the polls. <\/p>\n

Not even a formal
\ncorrespondence to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to block the deal worked
\nand the Minority was humiliated.<\/p>\n

The opposition
\nclaimed that government would destroy the Atewa forest through the exploitation
\nof the reserve, another propaganda effort to block the deal.<\/p>\n

The President and his team have cause to smile as those who stood against the Sinohydro deal will now retreat to their burrows, with tails tucked between their hind legs. <\/p>\n
