{"id":747546,"date":"2019-11-19T14:46:11","date_gmt":"2019-11-19T14:46:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2019\/11\/19\/gwcl-ladies-decry-lack-of-career-progression\/"},"modified":"2019-11-19T14:46:11","modified_gmt":"2019-11-19T14:46:11","slug":"gwcl-ladies-decry-lack-of-career-progression","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2019\/11\/19\/gwcl-ladies-decry-lack-of-career-progression\/","title":{"rendered":"GWCL Ladies Decry Lack Of Career Progression"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Juliana Konama Amponsah-Asiamah and some members of the association<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>FEMALE WORKERS of the Ghana Water Company Limited<br \/>\n(GWCL) say they are disappointed with the continuous lack of career advancement<br \/>\nfor junior staff of the company, describing the situation as unacceptable.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking under the umbrella body called\u00a0Ladies Association of Ghana Water Company Limited,<br \/>\nthe workers said despite acquiring the soft<br \/>\nskills needed to move up into senior position roles, many of them had<br \/>\nbeen denied the opportunity to advance in their career for the past three<br \/>\ndecades.<\/p>\n<p>The National President of the association,\u00a0Juliana Konama Amponsah-Asiamah, who made the disclosure,<br \/>\ndemanded an end to\u00a0\u201clack of career progression\u201d for the female workers of<br \/>\nGWCL in particular.<\/p>\n<p>She was addressing a staff durbar in Kumasi on Friday as part of<br \/>\nthe 30<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0anniversary celebration of the Ashanti Regional Ladies<br \/>\nAssociation of GWCL.<\/p>\n<p>According to her, several of their members had gone on retirement<br \/>\nafter working for close to 30 years without progressing up on the career ladder, and, therefore, wanted management of\u00a0GWCL<br \/>\nto take a critical look at it for remedy.<\/p>\n<p>She said the female workers had contributed greatly to the success<br \/>\nstory of GWCL, especially in the areas of revenue mobilization and potable<br \/>\nwater provision which are the core mandate of the company.<\/p>\n<p>The durbar was held on the theme: \u201cInclusiveness in Water,<br \/>\nSanitation and Hygiene \u2013 Leaving No One Behind.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Amponsah-Asiamah disclosed that the association had also<br \/>\nhelped in shaping the world since its inception in 1989 by supporting orphans<br \/>\nand vulnerable persons in society, constructing boreholes for communities, and<br \/>\nsupporting education through donation to the Otumfuo Education Fund.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, Elizabeth Agyemang, who was<br \/>\nthe guest of honour, praised members of the association for their contributions<br \/>\nto the performance of the company and the communities.<\/p>\n<p>She entreated them to keep up the good work in the area of revenue<br \/>\nmobilization to ensure that the company delivered on its core mandate at all<br \/>\ntimes. <\/p>\n<p><strong> From Ernest Kofi Adu, Kumasi <\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Juliana Konama Amponsah-Asiamah and some members of the association FEMALE WORKERS of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) say they are disappointed with the continuous lack of career advancement for junior staff of the company, describing the situation as unacceptable.
