It has emerged that the person, who informed the police about the
\nalleged supplier of the gun that was allegedly used in the gruesome murder of
\nthe Takoradi Constituency treasurer of the New Patriotic Party, lied to the
\npolice.<\/p>\n

Anthony Mensah, the alleged supplier of the gun, was arrested at
\nAmanful, a suburb of Takoradi, by a night police patrol team.<\/p>\n

He was arrested following a tip-off by an \u2018informant\u2019, Nana Bassaw,
\nthat it was Mensah who supplied the gun used in killing
\nMark Ofori at his residence at Fijai, near Sekondi.<\/p>\n

However, investigations revealed that Bassaw, also known as \u201cBorn
\nBlack\u201d, deceived the police.<\/p>\n

The 49-year-old Bassaw was on Friday remanded by the Takoradi Harbour
\nCircuit Court \u2018B\u2019 for deceiving public officers.<\/p>\n

The source indicated that after the \u2018informant\u2019 got the suspect
\narrested, police investigations later confirmed that Bassaw did that on purpose
\nso that Mensah would be in trouble.<\/p>\n

It emerged that the two had a grudge and during a fight, Mensah
\nallegedly destroyed the mobile phone of Bassaw without replacing it; hence, the
\nreason he framed up Mensah for murder allegations.<\/p>\n

After the arrest of Mensah, Bassaw managed to get the suspect\u2019s
\nfamily to buy him his phone and then proceeded to tell the police that he was
\nmisled and misinformed by a certain lady.<\/p>\n

The court did not take his plea, for which reason it remanded him to
\nre-appear today.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, October 30, the whole of Takoradi was thrown into a
\nstate of shock when Mr. Ofori was found shot dead at his residence.<\/p>\n

The assailant reportedly went straight to the victim\u2019s bedroom and shot him in the chest, killing him instantly. Preliminary checks showed that the suspect did not take anything from the house.<\/p>\n
