{"id":745284,"date":"2019-11-15T14:15:43","date_gmt":"2019-11-15T14:15:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2019\/11\/15\/okaikoi-north-meets-68-revenue-target\/"},"modified":"2019-11-15T14:15:43","modified_gmt":"2019-11-15T14:15:43","slug":"okaikoi-north-meets-68-revenue-target","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2019\/11\/15\/okaikoi-north-meets-68-revenue-target\/","title":{"rendered":"Okaikoi North Meets 68 % Revenue Target"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Boye Laryea addressing the press at the programme<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Okaikoi North Municipal<br \/>\nAssembly (ONMA) has, as at October, 2019, raised an amount of GH\u20b53.7 million out<br \/>\nof a budgeted revenue of GH\u20b55.25 million.<\/p>\n<p>The amount which was generally<br \/>\nmobilised through the collection of property rate, issuance of permits and<br \/>\npayment of fines represented 68 per cent of revenue for the year. <\/p>\n<p>The Director of Finance at the<br \/>\nAssembly, Victoria Anim Nyarko, who gave the information at a Meet-the-Press<br \/>\nprogramme last Friday, disclosed that an intensive revenue mobilisation<br \/>\nstrategy is being enforced for the next two months to ensure that the assembly raises<br \/>\nan additional GH\u00a24.5 million.<\/p>\n<p>The Municipal Chief Executive<br \/>\n(MCE), Boye Laryea, has however appealed to the public to help the assembly<br \/>\nseal loopholes in revenue generation by reporting any individual or persons who<br \/>\nextort money for various reasons without issuing the appropriate receipts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you see any of our<br \/>\ntask force with ONMA and they take money from a driver without giving receipt,<br \/>\nplease come and report\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Boye also mentioned some<br \/>\ngreenhouse initiatives adopted by the assembly which included the planting of<br \/>\n400 tree seedlings within the assembly and the initiation of agriculture<br \/>\nsenstisation programmes to promote backyard farming among residence.<\/p>\n<p>He also noted that assembly<br \/>\nhas intensified its campaign to sensitise members on the upcoming referendum as<br \/>\ntwo town hall meetings scheduled to take place on November 19 and November 21.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe try as much as possible<br \/>\nto visit at least four or five churches every weekend in order to boost the<br \/>\ncampaign\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He however lamented delay in<br \/>\nthe release of government subventions, non availability of spatial land for<br \/>\nadministrative purposes and poor sanitation attitude which cost the assembly GH\u20b53000 to GH\u20b55000 on a<br \/>\nweekly basis.<\/p>\n<p>Early on, the MCE together<br \/>\nwith the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Ishmael Ashitey embarked on a tour of<br \/>\nthe municipality to inspect ongoing infrastructural projects and also cut sod<br \/>\nfor five new projects.<\/p>\n<p>Newly initiated projects<br \/>\nincluded an Information Communication Technology laboratory at Fadama Cluster<br \/>\nof Schools, 18-unit classroom block at the Akweteyman Anglican Junior High School,<br \/>\nPolice Station at Lapaz Bambolino, Fire and Ambulance Station at Apenkwa and a<br \/>\nClinic at Christian Village.<\/p>\n<p>The team also inspected a project<br \/>\nat the Kissieman market and the Achimota Basic School Dining Hall.<\/p>\n<p><strong>By Issah Mohammed <\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Boye Laryea addressing the press at the programme The Okaikoi North Municipal Assembly (ONMA) has, as at October, 2019, raised an amount of GH\u20b53.7 million out of a budgeted revenue of GH\u20b55.25 million.
