Board and management of Standard Chartered with the students and some lecturers<\/strong><\/p>\n

Standard
\nChartered Bank Ghana Limited says it is disbursing a total of GH\u00a271,000 as the first tranche of a
\ntotal amount of GH\u00a2300,000 over a four-year period to 31
\nbrilliant and needy students who have gained admission to the five public
\nuniversities.<\/p>\n

The
\ninstitutions include University of Ghana, Legon; Kwame Nkrumah University of
\nScience and Technology; University College of Education, Winneba; University of
\nDevelopment Studies and University of Cape Coast.<\/p>\n

The
\nstudents will benefit from two endowment funds, the Standard Chartered Science
\nEducation Trust Fund and Standard Chartered Kenneth Dadzie Memorial Education
\nTrust Fund.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

Dr.
\nEmmanuel Kumah, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Standard Chartered Bank
\nGhana Limited said, \u201cAs a
\nBank, we have a long history of contributing to social and economic development
\nand supporting communities where we operate. We believe everyone
\nshould have access to opportunities to realize his or her full potential and
\nbelieve that we can make a difference in promoting economic inclusion <\/a>in

Mansa
\nNettey, CEO, Standard Chartered Bank Ghana Limited said, \u201cWe understand that young people
\ngrowing up in developing economies must overcome multiple hurdles to achieve
\npersonal and economic empowerment. As an active participant of the UN Global
\ncompact we roll out programmes in support of the UN sustainability Goals that
\nwill support Quality education, gender equality and wellbeing.\u201d<\/p>\n

She
\nadded that Standard Chartered was committed to using its core business of
\nbanking to promote social and economic development in the countries where it
\noperates. The Bank provides products and services to individuals and companies
\nto drive local, regional and global economic development and job creation.<\/p>\n

The
\nKenneth Dadzie Fund focuses on postgraduate programmes, economics and business
\ncourses while the Science Education Fund covers both undergraduate and post
\ngraduate students pursuing science. <\/p>\n

Earlier
\nthis year, the Bank launched Future makers by Standard Chartered, a new global
\ninitiative to tackle inequality and promote economic inclusion. The initiative
\nis supporting young people through programmes focused on education,
