{"id":743917,"date":"2019-11-13T20:24:40","date_gmt":"2019-11-13T20:24:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2019\/11\/13\/finance-minister-lists-some-achievements-by-the-akufo-addo-govt\/"},"modified":"2019-11-13T20:24:40","modified_gmt":"2019-11-13T20:24:40","slug":"finance-minister-lists-some-achievements-by-the-akufo-addo-govt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2019\/11\/13\/finance-minister-lists-some-achievements-by-the-akufo-addo-govt\/","title":{"rendered":"Finance Minister lists some achievements by the Akufo-Addo govt"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\">\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"464\" class=\"entry-thumb td-modal-image\" src=\"https:\/\/ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/D7Gea_xV4AAJPNH-696x464.jpg\"   alt=\"Akufo Addo\" title=\"Akufo Addo\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">President Nana Akufo-Addo <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Minister for Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, says President Nana Akufo-Addo has worked hard to deliver substantial achievements.<\/p>\n<p>Delivering the 2020 Budget statement in Parliament on Wednesday, the Minister listed some achievements by the Akufo-Addo-led government.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Below are some of the achievements<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We have doubled the rate of economic growth to make Ghana one of the fastest growing economies in the world.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>We have expanded food production to make Ghana self-sufficient in maize production through planting for food and jobs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>We have also introduced and implemented Rearing for Food and Jobs to develop the livestock industry.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Together with Cote d\u2019Ivoire we have reached a landmark agreement to have a floor price for cocoa from next season.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>We have passed a Fiscal Responsibility Act to entrench fiscal discipline.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>We have reduced the fiscal deficit; We have also established a Fiscal Council <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>We have issued a Eurobond with the Longest tenor, Largest issuance, Least cost and Largest over subscription, reduced the rate of debt accumulation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>We have also reduced electricity prices.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>We have reduced benchmark values by 50%. We\u00a0 reduced inflation to its lowest in 27years <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>We have also reduced bank lending rates.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>We have saved the deposits of some 4.6 million depositors.
