The
\nyouth of Gwira Asonti in the Nzema East Municipality of the Western Region have
\nhighly commended their Member of Parliament (MP), Catherine Abelema Afeku, for
\nbeing development-oriented, saying she should be retained as MP to continue her
\ngood works.<\/p>\n

At
\nthe official inauguration of \u2018Concerned Youth of Asonti for Catherine\u2019 (COYAC),
\nVice-President of the group, Christopher Asamaning, urged the good people of
\nEvalue-Gwira Ajomoro Constituency to rally behind the MP to continue to develop
\nthe area.<\/p>\n

He
\ndescribed Catherine Afeku as a hard-working minister who had championed the
\nsetting up of a modern DVLA office in the Nzema East Municipality.<\/p>\n

He
\npointed out that the NPP government was constructing a sea defence project and
\na fishing harbour in the area and Ms. Afeku had been instrumental in helping to
\nbring massive projects to the area. He added that the projects were creating
\ndirect and indirect jobs for the youth of the area.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven
\nthough the residents of Asonti have been voting for the NDC since 1992, the
\npeople have now realized that the constituency was seeing more developmental
\nprojects under the current NPP government,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He,
\ntherefore, pleaded with the constituents to put their \u2018political colours\u2019 aside
\nand support Ms. Afeku to develop the area to improve the living standards of
\nthe people.<\/p>\n

He
\nexpressed optimism that Ms. Afeku would retain the Evalue-Adjomoro Gwira
\nConstituency seat in 2020 to set a record of being the first sitting MP to win
\nthe seat back to back since 1992.<\/p>\n

The
\nminister assured the youth that the Akufo-Addo government was determined to
\nensure equitable distribution of national resources in every part of the
\ncountry, saying the NPP government was fulfilling all the promises it made to
\nthe people of Nzema East prior to the 2016 general elections.<\/p>\n

The
\nMP said she had managed to connect Gwira-Eshiem, Bamianko, Kutukrom, Gwira-Banso
\nand Gwira-Asonwah to telecommunication networks, and added that Gwira Asonti
\nwould soon be connected under the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic
\nCommunications (GIFEC).<\/p>\n

The
\nMunicipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the area, Frank Okpeyen, commended the MP
\nfor developing the Gwira area more than any MP since 1992.<\/p>\n
