{"id":741855,"date":"2019-11-10T18:30:32","date_gmt":"2019-11-10T18:30:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2019\/11\/10\/university-offers-students-grave-to-lie-in-to-cope-with-exam-stress\/"},"modified":"2019-11-10T18:30:32","modified_gmt":"2019-11-10T18:30:32","slug":"university-offers-students-grave-to-lie-in-to-cope-with-exam-stress","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2019\/11\/10\/university-offers-students-grave-to-lie-in-to-cope-with-exam-stress\/","title":{"rendered":"University offers students grave to lie in to cope with exam stress"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>A university has come up with an unusual method of helping its students to cope with exam stress \u2013 a meditation grave.<\/p>\n<p>Many have been trying to offer a range of alternative therapies to help students suffering from anxiety during exam periods.<\/p>\n<p>Some have offered therapy dog sessions, mindfulness meetings, and even designated quiet spaces, but no university has gone quite as far as Radboud University.<\/p>\n<p>Located in the Dutch city of Nijmegen, they recently went viral after an alumni revealed their unique approach to managing student stress- a grave.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-567331\" src=\"https:\/\/ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/university-grave1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"615\" height=\"346\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>Yes, behind the student chapel is an open grave, and whilst it\u2019s not operational in the strictest sense of the word, people are dying to get in it.<\/p>\n<p>Inside the grave is an appropriate sign which says \u2018stay weird\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>According to the students, the bizarre project is so popular they had to be put on a waiting list to secure an early grave.<\/p>\n<p>Student Sean McLaughlin said: \u201cMe and my housemate were planning on going a week ago, a week and a half ago, and we found that there is a waiting list to actually get into the grave, so it\u2019s quite popular, so we didn\u2019t get the chance yet, but I plan to go sometime soon whenever I move up,\u201d<br \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-567326\" src=\"https:\/\/ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/university-grave.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"615\" height=\"346\"  \/><br \/>The \u2018purification grave\u2019, complete with a blanket and yoga mat, allows for comfortable if a tad morbid, meditation.<\/p>\n<p>But according to the project\u2019s founder John Hacking, a member of staff at the student chapel, the grave is actually about making pupils appreciate their time on this earth a little more.<\/p>\n<p>John told Ruptly: \u201cThe end of life, death, is a taboo, difficult for students\u2026 death is very difficult to talk about, especially when you are 18, 19, 20 years old.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Popularised by campus posters under the title \u201cmemento mori\u201d, Latin for \u201cremember you will die\u201d, the grave experience can be booked for a minimum of 30 minutes and up to three hours.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A university has come up with an unusual method of helping its students to cope with exam stress \u2013 a meditation grave.
