{"id":741118,"date":"2019-11-09T10:25:09","date_gmt":"2019-11-09T10:25:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2019\/11\/09\/asiedu-nketia-concedes-free-shs-is-best\/"},"modified":"2019-11-09T10:25:09","modified_gmt":"2019-11-09T10:25:09","slug":"asiedu-nketia-concedes-free-shs-is-best","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2019\/11\/09\/asiedu-nketia-concedes-free-shs-is-best\/","title":{"rendered":"Asiedu Nketia Concedes Free SHS Is Best"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Asiedu Nketia<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>THE GENERAL<br \/>\nSecretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu<br \/>\nNketia, aka General Mosquito, has<br \/>\ndescribed the Free Senior High School (SHS) as a spectacular policy.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, of all the policies<br \/>\nand programmes initiated by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government so far,<br \/>\nthe Free SHS policy stands out as the best among them.<\/p>\n<p>When asked about the best policy of<br \/>\nthe NPP government so far on Kumasi-based <em>Nhyira<br \/>\nFM<\/em> on Wednesday morning, Asiedu Nketia stated, \u201cThe Free SHS policy is the<br \/>\nbest so far\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>NDC Attacks On Free SHS<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It would be recalled that several<br \/>\nleading members of the NDC, especially former President John Mahama and Asiedu<br \/>\nNketia himself, have persistently kicked against the implementation of the Free<br \/>\nSHS initiative.<\/p>\n<p>The NDC, prior to the 2016 polls,<br \/>\nsaid Ghana was not in a position to implement the Free SHS policy. Some of<br \/>\ntheir top members even stated that the policy could only be rolled out in 20<br \/>\nyears\u2019 time.<\/p>\n<p>Even in recent times, former<br \/>\nPresident Mahama and his team have been going about saying they will \u2018review\u2019<br \/>\nthe Free SHS policy if they win the 2020 election. However, they have not been able<br \/>\nto tell Ghanaians how the review will be done.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Confession Time<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, Asiedu Nketia made a<br \/>\nU-turn and said the Free SHS was the best policy of the NPP.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Blasts NPP Again<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>However, few seconds after praising<br \/>\nthe Free SHS programme, the NDC chief scribe quickly descended on the<br \/>\nAkufo-Addo administration over the same Free SHS policy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Free SHS policy is good, but<br \/>\nas usual of the NPP government, the implementation of the policy is very bad. The<br \/>\nNPP did not consult broadly before implementing it,\u201d he claimed.<\/p>\n<p>The NDC General Secretary also said<br \/>\nthe National Identification policy comes next to the Free SHS in terms of the<br \/>\nbest policies of the Akufo-Addo government.<\/p>\n<p>Besides, he criticized the NPP<br \/>\ngovernment for not consulting enough before implementing the National<br \/>\nIdentification policy, saying \u201cthe NPP members always behave like they are<br \/>\nwiser than everybody.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the Free SHS<br \/>\npolicy and the National Identification programme would have made better impact<br \/>\non the lives of the citizenry had the government consulted other stakeholders.<\/p>\n<p>He said political parties like the NDC also has inputs to offer to help better the Free SHS policy, which is a major national policy but sadly the NPP refused to tap the expertise of other political parties.<\/p>\n<p><strong>FROM I.F.
