ACP\/Dr. Benjamin Agordzo <\/strong><\/p>\n

Tell-tale
\nWhatsApp chats among the alleged coup plotters are making clearer the depth of
\ncollaboration that existed between ACP\/Dr. Benjamin Agordzo and the Alajo
\nProprietor of the Citadel Hospital, Accra, Dr. Frederick Yao Mac-Palm.<\/p>\n

Investigators
\nof the alleged coup plot in which ACP\/Dr. Agordzo has been implicated are said
\nto be in possession of about a dozen-page WhatsApp communications between the
\nsuperior police officer and the alleged plotters, particularly the medical
\ndoctor.<\/p>\n

Stash of Messages<\/strong><\/p>\n

The
\nstash of messages which the police officer discredited as \u2018irrelevant\u2019 to the coup
\ncharge he is facing allegedly contain security tips about how to go about the various
\nstages of the build-up to the D-Day when the government would be toppled
\naccording to their plan.<\/p>\n

After
\nhis maiden appearance in a Kaneshie Magistrate Court in Accra last Wednesday,
\nthe superior police officer told the media in a brief remark that the WhatsApp
\nmessages over which he had been charged were irrelevant. Besides, he claimed to
\nbe as strong as anything and could not be broken down.<\/p>\n

It
\nis instructive that he admitted by the remarks that there are social media
\nmessages between him and some persons related to the subject. He did not,
\nhowever, state what the contents of the communications were. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The alleged
\ndetails DAILY GUIDE<\/em><\/strong> has stumbled upon present the superior police
\nofficer as holding an important position in the plot, as the messages
\nunderscore this unambiguously.<\/p>\n

Start-up <\/strong><\/p>\n

According
\nto the plan, a series of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) were going to be
\ndetonated across Accra, especially the Jubilee House (Presidency), to simulate
\ntension and facilitate the destabilization of the plot.<\/p>\n

A
\nsituation of tension would be simulated followed by demonstration until the
\nD-Day when already primed troops would be deployed to enforce the final strike.\n<\/p>\n

Serious Mission<\/strong><\/p>\n

The
\nwhole alleged plot started with security novices at first, perhaps deliberately,
\nbut as things progressed, security experts popped up as deduced from the
\nmessages. <\/p>\n

Critical
\nsecurity advice was no longer in short supply with the advent of the experts in
\nthe scheme of things. Additional information indicated that Dr. Agordzo was allegedly
\ndetailed to author the contents of the coup broadcast.<\/p>\n

Court Documents<\/strong><\/p>\n

Already,
\ndocuments that have been filed by prosecutors in court show that Dr. Agordzo
\nheld \u201cseveral meetings with the leadership of the group currently in custody
\nand incited them to take over the government as a right.\u201d<\/p>\n

He
\nis accused of demonstrating commitment \u201cto assist the unlawful enterprise with
\nvarious sums of money to facilitate the organization of the intended
\ndemonstration and taking over.\u201d<\/p>\n

IED Production <\/strong><\/p>\n

By
\n28th<\/sup> August 2019, the Citadel Hospital IED production centre had
\nalready produced some quantities of the explosive for the coup, investigators
\nhave learnt. <\/p>\n

Financing <\/strong><\/p>\n

Investigators
\nare also in possession of evidence of how Dr. Agordzo was offering financial
\nassistance to his \u2018collaborators\u2019, their indiscreet communication on social
\nmedia including a group giving out too much about the project. \u00a0<\/p>\n

When
\nthe court hearing finally starts Ghanaians, a security source has said, will
\nhave the opportunity to listen to the evidence garnered in the past 15 months
\nsince investigations into the activities of the suspects began. <\/p>\n

While
\nsome politicians on the other side of the aisle sought to rubbish the plot as a
\nred herring, it is becoming clear that the BNI and National Security operatives
\nare holding on to vital evidence ready to be turned in when the court hearings
\nbegin. <\/p>\n

Key Suspects<\/strong><\/p>\n

The
\ncivilians who have already been charged are Dr. Frederick Yao Mac-Palm, a
\ndoctor and the alleged mastermind behind the coup plot; Donya Kafui, aka Ezor,
\na local weapon manufacturer (blacksmith) from Alavanyo, and Bright Allan Debrah
\nOfosu, aka BB or ADC.<\/p>\n

The military officers caught in the alleged coup plot included a senior officer, Col. Samuel Kojo Gameli; Lance Corporal Ali Solomon, Lance Corporal Sylvester Akapewu, Lance Corporal Seidu Abubakar and one WO II Esther Saan, aka Mama Gee, of the Military Academy and Training Schools (MATS), and also a civilian employee of the Ghana Armed Forces, Gershon Akpa.<\/p>\n
